Kobe to Shinmoji. Travel by Hankyu Ferry! Hello! Here I’m on the Kobe Portliner. Today’s ferry trip to Shinmoji. Sailing from Kobe port at 6:30 p.m. Arrives at Shinmoji port at 7:00 a.m. The station is in sight. I’ve arrived at Island North Station. From here to the ferry terminal. Take the connecting bus.

Nice day for a ferry trip. Station exit to the left. This is Rokko Island. A man-made island in Kobe harbor. Bus stop 3 min. walk. Pedestrian bridge to ground level. Follow directions. Lots of greenery around the station. Along the road is a bus stop. Same bus for ferry to Oita.

Three buses on weekdays. Buses depart from Mikage Station. 7 min. to ferry terminal free. Via the Sunflower Terminal. Ferry can be seen on the left. Arrival. Kobe port at dusk. Ferry terminal building. Ferry docked behind it. Hankyu Ferry “Settsu” In service in 2020, 195 m in length.

“Settsu” is the old name for Osaka and Kobe. Ropes connected to bollards. Boarding bridge extending to ferry. The hull up close is very powerful. On the left is the “Sunflower Gold” bound for Oita. Let’s go back to the terminal. The sun has set. No need to go to the counter.

Boarding gate is on the 2nd floor. Waiting area. The store is open for business. Massage chairs. Kids’ space. Cozy waiting area. Let’s get on board. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor. Then to the boarding bridge. Hull seen through window. Connecting to the 5th floor of the ferry.

Be careful of the steps on your feet. This is the 5th floor starboard. To the lobby on the 5th floor. Stairwell from 5th to 7th floor. Spaciousness. Information desk and store open. Well-equipped onboard facilities. I’ll take a closer look around later. My cabin is a “Standard.” Booked online for $50.

Large room with a capacity of 16 people. Capsule bunks are lined up. Upper and lower capsules. Stairs to the upper. Luggage space under stairs. My capsule is the lower. Small but functional. Coin-operated returnable locker. Air vent with adjustable airflow. Bedside lighting and electrical outlet. Convenient cup holder. Clean bedding. Curtains open/closed.

Capacity was 16 with 5 passengers. 6th to 7th floor. 7th floor lobby. Outside deck on the 7th floor. Crescent moon in western sky Funnel with simple design. Port of Kobe after sunset. “Sunflower Gold” at stern. East Kobe bridge lights up. Rest area on outside deck. Sunflower Gold departs at 7:00 p.m.

Rampway and boarding bridge disconnected. Staff vehicle. The vehicle departs with doors open for some reason. Driving on the wharf. Finished work and went to the office. Sailing operations have begun. Rope is loosened and disconnected. Rope is hoisted up to the ferry. 6:30 p.m. Departure on time. Slowly leaving wharf. Boarding bridge and staff.

Ferry heads for Osaka Bay. Sunflower Gold sees off. A-Line Ferry cargo ship. East Kobe Bridge in the distance. Gantry cranes lining the wharf. Students on school excursions are also on board. Ferry trip with classmates. Should be a wonderful memory! 6th floor restaurant. Hankyu Ferry’s mascot “Funeko” Let’s have dinner. Choose your favorite dishes.

Extensive menu. Ostrich meat, last dish. Menu changes depending on the time of year. About $14 including alcohol. It’s an easygoing restaurant. “Funeko” means ship and cat. Outside deck again. Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. Connects Kobe and Awaji Island. Completed in 1998. Central branch 1991m. Second longest suspension bridge in the world.

Passing right under the bridge. The world’s longest suspension bridge is… Çanakkale 1915 Bridge in Turkey, 2023m. Night view of Kobe at the end of the bridge. Vehicles passing on the bridge. Ferry goes to Seto Inland Sea. Let’s take a look around the ferry. The store on the 5th floor. Lots of Funeko.

Resting in my capsule for a while. Back to the outside deck. Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. “SX↓” means “slowing tidal currents to the south.” Navigating the narrow straits. Extreme caution is required. The Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge consists of three suspension bridges. Passed through is the Kurushima Kaikyo 3rd Bridge. The bridge moving away.

Funnel and starry sky. Orion is clearly visible. Midnight on board. Sea before dawn. Ferry is west end of Seto Inland Sea. Let’s have breakfast. Set meal $5. The restaurant is empty. Sunrise soon. Cargo ship from Hong Kong. Numerous ships coming and going. How would this ferry look from that ship?

Thick clouds on the horizon. The sun is barely visible through the clouds. Ethereal sunrise. And back into the clouds again. The morning sun gradually hides from the upper edge. There is a thin section of cloud. The sun can be seen from there. And from the top edge of the thick cloud.

The sun appears again. And then it disappears again… And out again… The ferry is moving. So the sun appears to be moving sideways. Sea and sky turning orange. Sun gradually rising. It is perfectly round. I often see the sunrise from the ferry. It was an unusual sight. Never the same sunrise twice.

I realized that once again. Ferry goes to Shinmoji port. White lighthouse on the left, red lighthouse on the right. International rules for ports. Hull in the morning sun. Meimon Taiyo Ferry “Kita Kyushyu II” Shinmoji Port is served by four ferry companies. Hankyu Ferry “Izumi” Ocean Tokyu Ferry “Dogo”

  4. Encore une super vidéo. Merci.

  11. You my friend live an incredible life to the maximum, and I am determined to do the same. Sending lots of love, stay safe and enjoy yourself.

  12. Dziękuję za kolejne video😀 Lubie z Tobą podróżować bo podajesz zwięzłe informacje. Pokazujesz to co lubię: wschody i zachody słońca, jedzonko, dojazd do promu i oczywiście miejsce do spania😊 Opowiadasz rzeczowo i konkretnie. Dobra robota👍

  15. Great trip. From what i see in this video, looks like lower capsule have better privacy, meanwhile the upper one have better headroom when passenger sitting.
