🚅 SC Maglev & Railway Park 🚅 (Railway / Bullet Train / Shinkansen Museum) Nagoya, Japan 2023

What it’s like at the maglev and bullet train museum in Nagoya! Lots of bullet trains and all about the futuristic new maglev line.

The SC Maglev and Railway Park in Nagoya is the best train museum in Japan, because it has so much about the bullet train, and the new maglev trains that’ll be running between Tokyo and Nagoya in the near future! I highly recommend it – I had so much fun! There are displays explaining how the Japanese shinkansen system works, lots of trains you can go in (including Dr Yellow), an amazing railway diorama, lots of buttons to press and train driving simulators. It’s great for kids and adults. Nagoya is only 1 hour 45 minutes from Tokyo on the way to Osaka and Kyoto, so it’s easy to stop off and visit.

  1. Great video Amy! I enjoyed visiting SCMaglev and Railway Park in 2016 but there are so many changes and improvements they have made to the museum since then. It looks great with so much more to see and do than there was previously, I'll definitely have to visit again. JR Central have done a fantastic job.

It is one of the "big 3" train museums in Japan – the other two are at Omiya in Tokyo and at Kyoto, but there are over a dozen smaller railway museums around the country too.

  2. I was pretty sure this was going to make my itinerary for my next trip to japan but this video made it a sure thing. I love all the Shinkansen-themed stuff in the shop!

  3. It's a dream place not only for railroad buffs but also for children who love trains. 🚂→🚋→🚅→🚄
    💖✨

It was a wonderful video. 👏👍

  4. My dad worked on the trains in California so I have an affinity for them … fun and informative video … Where did you get your passport book for the train stops? … also will you be doing a merch haul?

  5. Thank you for video. Museum looks great. I went to the Kyoto rail museum in May which is also worth a visit 😊

  6. Went there in 2019, and we spend about 2 hours there and kind of wished we could have gotten there earlier and seen more of it. We went to the Messe next door for an auto show, so seeing the Furniture Dome store name from the station was just entertaining. Would completely recommend this to train fans or not.

  7. I know you love trains….I know this but as your moving up in the world do you plan to go grand class on an overnight ferry?

  8. I didn't know that train museum has so many attractions. I was definitely skipping this place unless I win a maglev lottery ticket.
Now I need to go there with my family or friends even without the ticket. Funny, train engineers are basically competing with Legoland.
Thank you for the detailed coverage. Your video report will help me a lot.

  9. Thanks Amy, this vlog was really well done. It is easily my favorite from your channel! Im gonna share t with my friends. Stay safe and healthy!

  10. I saw 1975 Toei's Classic "The Bullet Train (Original Movie) which star Sonny Chiba, and 2 'late actors' Tiger Tamba and Ken Takakura (Black Rain). It's rush-hour that you keeping the edge of your seat 💺!

  11. I'd never heard of this place, but now I want to go there… I'm pretty far from Nagoya, but someday, and before I leave Japan for sure.

I saw Dr. Yellow once, from a distance. I was at Shimbashi station in Tokyo, and I don't know if it was on the Tokaidao line or the Tohoku line, but I kid you not it had sparks shooting out of it (or like behind it/beside it – don't have any idea what they were doing). It was almost surreal. I touched the Alfa-X once too. Currently, it camps at Furukawa on Tuesday afternoons for a few minutes between 4:30-5pm. I believe it goes north from there. Its schedule has changed at least once though in the last year.

  12. That was a great video! My wife and I will be there in December. What is the quickest way to obtain tickets for the train simulator? Do you have any tips?

  13. You are an excellent ambassador, presenter/producer, guide! Another must go to add to my list. Thanks.

  14. Couple months ago i went to a different maglev test facility near fuji. I didn’t know there was 2 maglev museums.

  15. We did the JR West train museum in Kyoto and it looks very similar with some of the same exhibits and the Diorama of the area with the different trains. No simulators there as far as we saw but they did have many many trains. We were surprised at how enjoyable a day it was.

  16. I definitely would love to go to Japan and to ride on the Shinkansen Bullet Train. Japan is a incredible country.

  17. 新幹線シミュレーターはホームに入ったときに40キロより低めの速さで緩やかなブレーキを掛け続けると、キレイに止まれます

  18. I could probably lose an hour or two looking at that Diorama. It was interesting to get a glimpse inside their Workshop.
It is great that you can go inside the trains and it is really interesting that the next generation will be able to drive/flot through an earthquake.

  19. visited here last year, (as well as several of the other railway museums) As well as the Shinkansen Suimulator, they also had a Guard (Conductor) simulator, which was of special interest to myself comparing my day job to the Japanese equilivent, the staff were really friendly, (especially given my reliance on google translate to ask overly technical questions), others have commented on the wide availability of small to mid size railway museums, and i'd like to second that and recommend the 'Tokyo Subway Museum' & Tobu Railway Museum (Tokyo), the 'Usui Pass Heritage centre', (sometimes JR have guided tours of the disused signal box at Takasaki Station which is on the way) (Gunma), the Oigawa Railway (Between Tokyo and Kyoto) Kyoto Railway Museum (combine this with a trip on the Sagano Romantic Train (I failed to do this due to a fallen tree 🙁 ) and the trip up Mt Hiei (Japan's stepest funicular))
