Ginkakuji temple, also known as the Silver Pavilion, is a Zen Buddhist temple located in Kyoto, Japan. The temple was built in the late 15th century as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, and later converted into a temple after his death. The temple is known for its beautiful gardens, which feature sand mounds and a picturesque pond. The temple's main building, the Silver Pavilion, is not actually coated in silver, as was originally planned, but still remains a stunning example of traditional Japanese architecture. Ginkakuji temple is a popular destination for tourists seeking a peaceful and beautiful spot in Kyoto to relax and reflect.
