Trains
➡ Osaka to Kyoto: we took Haruka train (no reservation needed, we bought our tickets on the day at ticket office)
➡ Kyoto to Tokyo: we took Shinkansen train (booked via Rail Ninja: https://rail.ninja/route/kyoto-to-tokyo, and you will be able to assign your seats a month before the date of your ticket! If you'll be traveling with luggages, there are seats with an oversized baggage area.)
Apps & other tips
👉 Tabelog (食べログ): The iOS app seems to be only available in Japanese App Store. We only used the website to look for restaurants around us from hotel! Any places with above 3.5 ratings should be fine, and above 3.9 ratings should be great.
