Kurashiki is a city on Japan’s Seto Inland Sea. It’s known for the townscape of the Bikan Historical Quarter. Kurashiki prospered in the 1600s as a distribution center of goods. The old town has characteristic Japanese white walls. Many buildings previously served as storages for goods. Many of Kurashiki’s former storehouses have been converted into museums and restaurants. This area was designated as an “Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings”.
