Happy new year 2023!
In this walk I visit 4 well-known shrines in Asahikawa city for new year tradition “Hatsumoude (初詣)”.
Hatsumoude is the first shrine visit of the year to make wishes for the new year.
Buy “Omikuji”, eat rice cakes, write “Ema”, at shrine you can enjoy special Japanese cultures from beginning of the year.
Especially in Asahikawa you can see beautiful snowfull shrines.

Enjoy your walk!

  1. It was nice to see these shrines, and think back to seeing some of the same places in summer. It was especially interesting to see the queues at some shrines but not at others, and see the teens and young adults coming in groups at night. Thanks for your comments, they were really helpful.
