Kawazu Sakura is the earliest bloom cherry in Japan. In 1955, an individual accidentally discovered a tree of about 1m in the weeds along the Kawazu River on the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Pref. and planted in the front of his house.Log 3:15
Flowering in 1966. About 850 Kawazu cherry trees are blooming on the embankment about 4 km along the Kawazu River. It is very beautifully blooming in dark pink every year from mid-February to late February, but this year hastened by 2weeks due to the warm winter.
