  1. Love your cool, calm & collected videos, very refreshing! And full of useful information, much appreciated!

    Any tips for big/overweight/obese tourists?

  2. Great video and tips! Only 4 more months until I get to put these into action. Also, I totally didn't know that David Bowie was actually just lost in a Japanese train station somewhere and that no one has found him yet. πŸ˜‚

  3. Hi I thank you for your helpful videos. Just back from our wonderful 21 day trip. We did our own transport etc using subways, lots of trains and buses. We only travel with small bags so they fit onto all transport and used the laundry 3 times. Easy. We are in our 70s and met lots of travellers our age. So just go. Every announcement and sign is both Japanese and English and of course used google translate a few times. We stayed 6 nights Kyoto. Felt that is a minimum as so much to see and it is much more spread out taking 45 minutes from one area to other. Loved every temple along Philosphers Path. Thank you again, we are planning our next Japan trip with your help. Cheers from Australia 😊

  4. I remember seeing a very popular youtuber being invited to the pokemon center cafe and they asked about if they had anything vegetarian.

    This really irked me, because:
A: Japan doesn't do this kinda thing (in general, voluntary dietary restrictions)
B: This youtuber couldn't be bothered to look up the menu ahead of time and kindly turn down the invitation due to complete lack of choices due to said diet. They had to show up and put them on the spot.

  5. You and your husband create some of the best Japan videos on the Youtube. Thanks for all your hard work.

It would be awesome if you could create one for the Izu Peninsula.

  6. I don’t like to travel with too much cash. How much cash should I withdraw at the atm for a family of four weekly? See you in several weeks!!!

  7. The "lots of stairs" is Good for everyone! This is one reason why local people live long and obesity is not a problem ( not to mention there is a law against it there).

  8. Thanks a lot for helpful information as always!
Allow me to add one more tip from a local: Watch out for food rip-offs in some tourist spots. 7,000 yen seafood bowls or 3,000 yen ramen are unimginable for locals.

  9. What is the most polite way to order food if I don’t speak Japanese? Let’s say I’m in Osaka and I want to order a particular type of okonomiyaki. What is the most polite way to do this? I don’t want to assume they speak English and I don’t just want to point at things. What would you suggest?

  10. Great video. This is helpful. We will be in Japan in November for the third time. Everyone should respect the culture.

  11. We had both of our umbrellas stolen at a rural onsen. We were soaked walking to the JR line train. We could have stole someone else's umbrellas but know better. The subway main office had 100,000 abandoned umbrellas hanging in the ceiling. It was some sort of decorative thingπŸ˜…

  12. Great tip about the IC card on your phone. I’ve wondered that but was afraid to ask if you had to unlock it.

  13. Hey, you did not snack during this awesome video. How do you stay so slender? After watching your bamboo forest video I cancelled Nara and booked for arashiyama. After a few day we head off to kinosaki for four days of micro brews, azuki pastries, pan with azuki/butter!!!! Yummy tummy
