This day was very special to me, I had heard many good things about this place and it was a must see while being at Misawa. Since we decided to stay home for my birthday this is what I wanted to do to celebrate the next day. This place was so magical and the video footage does not do it justice.
We drove along the coast for about two hours till reaching the Shimokita Peninsula. As we pulled up there was wild horses roaming along the road like they didn’t even notice us. We climbed 128 stairs to reach the top of the Shiriyazaki Lighthouse overlooking the Philippine Sea (I think) which was breathtaking. We walked from the lighthouse down the rugged terrain to the water with the waves crashing against the rocks.This experience was well worth the drive and I can’t wait to go back.
