The main entrance of the gold and silver coin mint of the Mint Dormitory (now the Mint Bureau ), located along the Okawa River in Kita-ku,Osaka City, was relocated and preserved as a building.
It is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
It is one of the oldest existing modern buildings in Japan.
Completed in 1871 as a minting dormitory, designed by Thomas Wortles.
Selected as one of Japan’s 50 Modern Heritage Sites.
