Hi we’re growing up about borders and today we’d like to welcome you to Tokyo Japan we are in the Metro station at the moment we are figuring out whether we take a train bus metro if you don’t know who we are here’s a quick recap we are the patents AKA Growing Up Without

Borders a fun family of five traveling to every country in the world we’ve been on this mission for the past 10 years and today we are embarking on a journey to Japan in our last video we spent 48 Hours touring around Korea we saw gim and from BTS upon arriving at the

Airport then we went to see more of the cultural side of soou and ended with a nice walk up to the end Tower we jumped on a couple metros to head over towards the airport and then where are we we’re in Japan we made it to Japan Woo Japan is an island nation in East Asia it’s home to beautiful sites amazing food and of course any [Applause] [Applause] Me so we just landed and what we normally do is we go look for the local um SIM cards right well this one they were going to charge like I don’t know 70 or $60 us but you can also do an eim now with AO

Foret how you say it I’m going to put our link below um but when you do that it’s like $11 and it lasts for 30 days I think we just got like 5 gigs or something so much cheaper which is shocking okay here we go kesan Mainline number

Three kind of can’t believe that we’re actually here in Japan we made it and um yesterday we met some other Travelers and one of the questions I said is like don’t you guys ever like get tired and like just like tired of all the moving around and this is like one of those

Days I’m looking across at the girls and everyone’s like kind like and what’s crazy is tomorrow we’re going to be going full on starting with like chours for two full days so it’s going to be nonstop we just uh got off the metro and so far it’s like a really

Quaint quiet feels like a quiet street and I feel nobody around the time it’s a time of day cuz we’re checking in it’s like 900 p.m. but um so far it looks really nice like a really nice neighborhood we’re staying at the mimaru hotel which is an apartment hotel and

From what I saw online it looks really nice we’re so excited just to check in and go into our cozy beds all right wow so when you stay in Japan often it’s a small little room but no we’re getting a big huge like family style room look at

This is that nice wow look at that so cool look at the windows so pretty and then over here I’m assuming like the kitchen oh that’s cute we’ll be able to cook our own meals make our own little breakfast speaking of breakfast this is something I’m really

Excited to tell you guys about it’s a new product I just got it’s called out in Nano and it’s basically a portable espresso machine but this is what’s so cool because this little baby here it plugs into a USBC like that so you don’t need to have an adapter or wherever

You’re going and you can have your presso machine literally like this anywhere you go I’m going to explain to you how it works so you put water in here you put the lid on and then you have two options so you can go the uh eco-friendly way and you can fill up

Your little capsule here so you put in your own coffee pod like that you would put it like this you take off your cup you screw it in the bottom like that and voila you press the button twice it’ll heat up the water that’s inside and then the coffee comes out the b

Like that’s the coolest thing ever now if you want to use a coffee pod you can do the same thing so they give you another one you put your coffee pod in and you’re good as gold I’ve used it at an airport where I gave a homeless man a

Free cup of coffee I’ve served coffee as a barista bar between the borders of Columbia and Venezuela turned this into an internet cafe and a barista bar I have served myself a coffee while waiting in the line to get our visas processed seriously I could use this as

A bribe at some of the borders at airports on buses like so many times and countless hotels and homes that we stayed in that don’t have proper coffee machines check this out going to show you up close how it looks see that so guys you guys get 10% off with

Our coupon code so pause the video right now make sure to click our link below and go enjoy yourself a nice travel siiz espresso machine mimaru has hotels all around Japan and different cities and here in Tokyo they’ve got many different properties so if you’re like Central East North you

Know all over so we’re staying in Uno which is kind of like near Old historical cultural area so you’ll see tomorrow we’re going to do a full tour of look at this oh this is the bathroom the shower actually and there is the toilet and it’s got a fancy

Toilet with all the special buttons okay I was just told that we have a bathtub no way y that is so awesome what’s really convenient is I got all the light switches and USB things right here by your bedet as well here we go let’s go have some fun good morning good

Morning from Tokyo super excited and stoked to see the cities City what are you excited to see everything really it’s going to be amazing we’ve heard so much about Tokyo about Japan about the city the people the culture like and we’re going to share all of that with you we’re going

To show you some the top attractions if you’re here just for a few like what you can do in 2 days basically yeah even though we’re going to stay a little bit longer we’re going to show you what you can cram in in two days growing up with

A b style patent style patent style we got a tour guide too which is always helpful because we waste so much time trying to figure out how to get from A to B on the Metro so meet junko our local Japanese tour guide we’ve got beautiful blue skies sunshine and warm weather to Go they’re like British taxis all right starting at wo Station so that’s the Tokyo Sky tray there and this is the beer tower in front of the beer company okay we are coming up to the Gateway to go into the shopping street we’re going to find out the name in one second but this goes to

Deseno Temple and this is a famous spot for photos come very early in the morning because this is a country that has so many tourists like I’m Blown Away mainly because just when we were just in Mongolia last week there was no tourists and here it’s just like tons of Tourists all right we just came through the gate and now we are entering the street named nakam yes that basically means shops for the people yeah well basically what they were telling us is that at every Temple you have a street like this and they have all the shops to

Kind of entice people to come to the temple and also they’re allowed to have their business because the people taking care of the temple well it gives them the right to have a little merchant business so you can find all sorts of things here really some snacky foods all

Sorts yeah and if you didn’t know every single like Shrine or Temple has a gate with two guards and each guard one of them has like their mouth closed and one has one mouth open mouth open is to capture like the evil spirits and the closed one

Keeps them there yeah so that’s kind of like their Guardians of the temple Yeah as we were vlogging Chloe and aik somehow managed to get lost I think the girl all the way ahead and Ty yeah day one in Japan we’ve already lost them we don’t know if they’re ahead of us or behind us but we pulled over to the side

To stop but um I don’t know where they went here you can buy like your own customade Chopsticks any design you like Really like look at how cute that is adorable I can see why why they need these little change purses cuz see that that’s a $5 coin so like they’re coins you’d have lots of coins so you need little change purses like that to put it

In so here in Japan even the shops that are closed have beautiful paintings on them so this Temple is the oldest Temple in all of Tokyo cool thing is you can me your fortune in there can you yeah it’ll tell you your fortune like built in like 600

26 or something like that like a long time ago this is the perfect photo spot Chloe what’s the POS they do Here I think you like put a stick in it and then it comes out and then they the number and then they take one out they read it and if it’s bad luck you have to hang it on there and if it’s good luck you can keep

So there’s a sheet of instructions here that tells you what you’re supposed to do so first you’re supposed to take 100 yen put it in here and they say to pray while you do it and then you shake This kind of Loud okay and then you get the symbols here and you have to match them up okay now we number again 29 29 okay put it back yes9 this one take it out okay ready and then you read it what you get mine says yeah oh the moon and morning Twilight still

Keeps on Shining it means a few moments later mine is Good Fortune everything you worry about in trouble some Affairs are 1 hour later we’ll show around soon there are no problem with building a new house and removal making a trip will be good there are no worry about marriage and

Employment and I got a bad fortune Julie had good fortune I had regular fortune and a had bad fortune put it on the rck get rid of that bad fortune so behind me what they’re doing is there’s like a blessed smoke if you will so if you want to grow your hair

You kind of put the smoke on your hair if you want to have beautiful skin you just put it on your skin you want if you want to lose weight you put it on your but your belly or wherever you got that belly fat I don’t know that’s what they’re doing Here so in Canada we do the same thing but Bomb by bonfires you just kind of naturally get the smoke on your skin now I’m going to think about that every time I get smoked from a bombfire like I’m just beautifying myself yeah you already have it I think this has a sacred

Meaning as well like you know like a fountain of maybe or Something you know what that’s like what that’s like Epcot all the time we used to go to Epcot in Florida Pretend We’re in Japan and now we’re off in Japan so so cool it’s true they have those same towers and they got the people who drum

On that big tower like one like that look at that’s a traditional outfit here in Japan a group of ladies is doing it there wearing them this is a wall of sponsors they fit in their name on these lanterns so it makes it really Pretty This is the place you go and if you have one wish you can only have one wish you go and it will come true if you wish it and if you have many wishes what do you do you wish for more wishes wish for more many Wishes so we are entering n Sando Street which means West Street to the temple and they’ve got some melon bread I think we’re going to try it it’s like a typical thing you can find here give two hands so this is kind of like melon bread it’s not green but it looks like

Ooh it’s like Cloud bread it’s got sugar on the top it’s really really soft let’s give it a bite looks so good it’s like Cloud bread like egg whites is it good super soft it’s like a cloud oh yeah most away sweet and yummy that would have been good for

Breakfast so this area looks like a tourist spot lots of shops and boutiques and activities that you can do I was just about to say even though it’s very busy and there are so many tourists it’s got this peacefulness to this area which is it doesn’t feel loud or chaotic ever

Wondered how to say McDonald’s in Japanese we are right now on a very popular drinking Street where people come and enjoy a nice beer very Lively at night and even during the day you can come and enjoy a nice cold refresh okay something interesting is they have to learn more

Than 5,000 just to be able to read a newspaper symbols like letters but there’s many more and I feel like that’s why this country is very artistic cuz to draw them all is a lot of work yeah like look at the symbols look at that one the

Center one how would you I don’t know how you draw that you have to be good atra store last night at theed store they had stationer at the convenience store which I’ve never seen in any other country I just remember that they’re kind of like in between late and early

Risers but not so much like some restaurants will open at 10:00 a.m. and some will close around 10:00 p.m. so it’s kind of like in between Here here we got famous Japanese hands from like actors or celebrities there’s a Dog Cafe up there it’s with the those little him dogs that was in the movie uh hcky no h a c hi know it’s great for if you travel a lot because you can’t have a dog so you can

Just go to a cafe and pretend you have a dog I just feel that it’s like oh number one apple pie in the world I don’t believe it I think that’s in Canada but I was just going to say it feels very slow paced like everyone like doesn’t

Walk as fast as other countries it’s just like relaxing it feels like like you know every culture is different so in Korea it felt like everyone’s in a rush and here it’s like everyone’s just relaxed okay so here in Japan there’s some people that live over 100 years

Old yeah so she’s interviewed people yes I did and see what their secret is well this lady she said the secret of longevity long life is the chocolate wine and love and love this the lady look at that 100 years amazing and she lived to 107 isn’t that crazy here

There’s a water refill station I just learned some fun facts about Sumo wrestling you’ve all heard of it right there those big guys who go in an arena and they fight so the I was like how do they get to that big you know stage of that level they eat and

They sleep but get this their fat is to protect their muscles cuz they hit each other really hard so they’re really strong and buff underneath all that fat if you will so when they retire and Get Slim they’re actually slim and fit at the end pretty interesting and that’s

Something you could do I heard as well you could do a thing where you eat and you watch them wrestle that would be quite something to watch so right now we are entering kabashi Street which has everything anyone needs basically to set up your restaurant from the costumes to the fake food

Representations to the knives and everything you need really we’ll show you when you see like little stands or restaurants how they have the fake food of what they have on the menu this is where they buy it so they buy fake lettuce basically anything you need but

It looks so real is do photos is it to do pictures also to leave on your display put on your display let’s go see It is this your dream store Asik if they have a canoli maker yes a canoli maker like a canoli roll I’ve been searching one since we left New Zealand this like 2022 2023 no 2022 yeah so this is the famous chef when you see him you know

You were on the famous kabashi kitchen wear Street all right next up we’re going around the uo area and there’s many things here in this area there’s museums like of national or Museum of Natural Science there’s a temple in the lake Pond here we’re going to first schol start up at amoko Center Street that’s

What we’re going to do the zoo is also very special because there’s a panda there and it was our first Panda ever here in Japan at the zoo and all along here is um talking about the different places before we go to the park let’s go get some food at amoko

Street in Tokyo you’ll see lots of vending machines so the meaning of the street OKO em is like their sweet like sweet and Yoko is like the like an Alleyway and and um back uh after the Americans were here just after the World War II um they had this whole street and

Some will debate saying that it’s OKO meaning like American street because it was like the black market where you could get all the American Products so but no longer that now it’s just this beautiful Street of all sorts of uh things that you can buy and lots of food

Options so here in this area there’s the zoo right but they have pandas and they’re very it’s like the first one in Tokyo so you’ll see pandas everywhere like this One thing that’s really interesting is our tour guide junle just did something interesting when she said there was six she just went six or if there was seven let’s say she should go seven instead of what we would do six now that we are all hungry we’re going to go have a typical

Japanese lunch where you grill it in front of you let me show You oh this is so nice they give us little refreshing towels wash your hands the menu is all in Japanese so we let junko decide what we’re going to eat all right so what we’re going to be eating is almost like a Japanese pancake there’s cabbage inside and there’s two

Ways to have it you can have it like a hard way which is called how youon yeah and there’s also like a softer one which is like more liquidy yeah it’s called mon yeah and are we going to try both or just one try both

Show you the way it works here is so you don’t pay you pay for the table but they give you some food they give you octopus no uh this is oh I think that’s squid Yeah this your first time trying squid it’ be similar to octopus so I’m thinking like first time trying squid yeah it’s not as chewy like chicken mom’s eating squid put the whole thing in my mouth not bad the way they make this dish is they mix the cabbage and eggs

Then they shape it like a pancake and layer it with all the toppings what you think here goes another one look look at that table Japanese mayil is so good right like soy or what is that like cabbage of mixed sauce mixed sauce on top look at that finished product a try the moment we’ve all been waiting for let’s see how is it the sauce is like barbecue super yummy how is

It so here we start with the rice cakes and this is what’s going to be cooked up then they shape it into a circle and put their delicious sauce inside I think this one has my favorite style consistency because I like that liquid and the cheese when it melts on

Top is really good I think this one has to be my favorite even though it’s fish eggs making one more but this time with Pork let’s see aik what do you think about it how is it it’s good spicy this one similar to the last one except it’s not like more it’s got different flavor I just got deodorized so cuz the food kind of is smelly they just spray you with a deodorant spray have you ever

Been asked at a restaurant if you want to be deodorized no that was really cool so that was a really interesting lunch I’m really glad we tried it it was so Filly soly and it was just nice to see what the traditional foods are here

And I was to that sometimes when a mom maybe doesn’t want to cook dinner or what have you that’s what they will do as a dinner you just whip it up and there you go yeah so here’s a fun fact and make sure you watch the video to the

End cuz we’re going to share tons of these fun facts with you but did you know that when you’re in Japan you must carry your passport and if you don’t as a tourist or even a foreigner anybody like a yeah a local and if you don’t you

Can spend the night in jail isn’t that crazy yes you can find so many things here in O like seafood yeah you find like seafood P pork chicken for one piece is a five 500 yen which is like a four $4 $4 for one strawber strawberry what they better be good where are we what the youo park Uno Park so here in their park they have a

Smoking station like that and it’s kind of block so that the smoke doesn’t get blown into people’s faces at the end of March beginning of April this Alleyway is filled with cherry blossoms so it’s really pretty to walk Through it was so sunny today I even managed to get a sunburn Oh all right so here you can come and enjoy a really fun little paddle booat ride with these little swans right in the city center it’s a great little Park you have to get in the nature of her peaceful stroll especially after eating such a big meal would you

Say it’s a peaceful City yes like it looks busy cuz there’s so many people but there’s all these areas where you can get away and be the nature in Peace right here in the park you have all these different things so you got the the yeno Zoo right behind me or right in front of me you’ve got the National Art um university and art center the national Museum after visiting weno Park we walked back to our lovely mimaru got some laundry done so they have this phone that comes in the room and it’s got all these different apps and stuff but one of the coolest apps is a coin laundry machine tells you if they’re

Being used or not that’s so smart and it tells you the wash the drive that’s cool I absolutely love coming to hotels when they have laundry machines and this one does and we are in desperate need of laundry even though we’ve done it just the other day we still need more done

Obviously we don’t know what it says that’s the problem I was we finished our day with some delicious dinner pork and like a Japanese Curry and rice and caught some rest because tomorrow it’s another full day here in to Japan so don’t forget to like And subscribe and

We’ll see you in the next video thanks for watching Bye
