Welcome to a new Flight Vlog, on board Philippine Airlines! Leave a thumbs up, and share your insights through commenting below! FULL DETAILED DESCRIPTION BELOW:

Flight Details:
Aircraft: Airbus A320-214
Registration: RP-C8620
Airline: Philippine Airlines
Flight Callsign: “Philippine” PR406
Time of Departure: 01:44 Philippine Time
Time of Arrival: 06:57 Japan Time (Gate Arrival: 07:10)
Total Flight Time: 04:13

Boarding Process:
First on board were passengers seated on business class, and Persons With Disabilities. After the aforementioned, ground staff commenced the boarding of all economy class passengers in groups beginning with the ones seated at the back-most rows of the aircraft heading forward.

In flight Meal and Service:
The food was satisfactory. I opted for the Japanese menu which consists of Chicken in Miso Sauce, a simple salad, and a Japanese cheese mini bun for dessert. The food had a good taste, but there was room for improvement-especially in presentation. Chopsticks were provided upon request, other utensils were also available. The crew made 3 rounds of drink service, and as the lights were dimmed, the passengers were allowed to visit the galley at the back to request for snacks and/or drinks. Water was served to all passengers prior to initial descent.

Aircraft Experience:
I was expecting to board an Airbus A321neo as advertised by the airline. However, the recent pattern during the time of this flight was that PAL operates the A320 on Mondays, due to the less amount of booked passengers. (If anyone knows another possible reason, please comment it below) The aircraft was built back in 2012, and is used for short to medium haul international flights by the airline. The seats were well maintained, and the windows were properly cleaned. The lavatory was also tidy when I visited before landing. The only downside to flying on Philippine Airlines’ A320’s and first gen A321’s would be the lack of in flight entertainment. On this particular aircraft, there was also no myPAL wifi (Philippine Airlines’ Wifi Streaming Application) and the typical free MB’s worth of internet. Hopefully PAL would upgrade these aircrafts soon, and standardise their fleet (and achieve the 5-star Skytrax rating)

Overall, I believe PAL is getting to that 5-star rating. There’s a lot more for them to do, but they have really improved service since I’ve first flown with them back when the 747’s and A340’s were airborne.
