Today, we visit Wakayama prefecture during Ume Festival! π
Ume means plum in Japanese and every year at the end of February / early March, the plum flowers bloom.
They are many festivals in Japan during this period to celebrate the appearance of Ume flowers. One of the traditions during Ume matsuri is Mochi Throwing.
The organisers will throw many mochi sweets to the crown and the goal is to collect the maximum number of Mochi! As you can see in the video, people are very excited to get some as it’s said that it brings good luck. π
