Happy Penis Day! Yes, Japan has a penis day complete with it’s very own festival. It’s called the Hodare Matsuri and it is held, in various forms through out Japan, on the 9th and 15th of March (depending on the town). It’s a fertility festival for women to pray for a successful pregnancy, for anyone else to pray that they’ll find that special someone, and the town or village’s prayer for a bountiful harvest of rice. The center piece of the festival in Niigata Prefecture’s Tochio City is the Hodare-Sama idol. A 600kg wooden apparatus that gets ridden by several kimono clad ladies. It’s the most eye-opening and cheapest day out I’ve yet had. So, wanna go to a penis festival?
