I was trying to plan a spring trip but life may prevent that from happening. However, I'm not giving up yet. There is so much of Japan that I have yet to experience because the country is more diverse than a lot of people think. If not spring then fall. I will not let an entire year go without spending a month in Japan. Being able to maximize my travel budget is always my goal. So if Japan and my countries economy's cooperate, I'll be there.

I was in Kyoto and heard about how bad the crowds & lines were for the Osaka Expo, so I skipped it 👍
I went to the Expo and enjoyed it. Got to see the Gundam pavilion (amazing) and my home country the UK (a bit pants!). Was great to wander in 30 deg blue skies back in May and the grand ring was amazing!

hmmm,… actually … the year 2026 is Hinoeuma …. women born under this sign are traditionally said to make very difficult wives. The weak exchange rate simply makes life that much more difficult for native Japanese. The only good thing I can imagine is the Musée du Louvre exhibit in Tokyo.
I think 2026 is a SECOND best moment. The best of the best moments ever was 2022/2023. 🙂 It was really quiet. Even in Tokyo. And it was soooo cheap! I booked 1-person room for 5500Yen / night. Now the same hotel wants 20000Yen / night. 😀

We eagerly anticipate our return in late March for the 25th time in the past two decades. Our meticulously planned itinerary coincides with the recent cherry blossom forecast dates. We’ll avoid the crowded cities once again. Another reason for our return is the strong USD against the yen.
wild because ive been tracking the yen for the past few weeks as i leave for japan on the 31st and just this morning was the biggest fluctuation i saw in the yen in the past month … went from 158/159 down to 154/155. it was at its worst at 162 back a couple of years ago and selfishly, I hope it stays weak while I am out there but man, the global economy is … in the dumps.
