  1. First Again! 6 AM Seattle -2C (^.-)
Totally agree. Train stoppage is rare in Japan. But it can be very confusing to foreigners. Once I tried to go to Narita from Shinjuku and the trains were not running. If not for a foreigner fluent in Japanese I would never had known why, expected duration of the stoppage, nor how to re-route myself to get to Narita.
Happy Reiwa 8! Hoping Japan has MANY years of Beauty & Harmony!

  2. Great video Kenchan! I'll arrive in Tokyo in 3 days to stay in Japan for 3 months. I'm planning on backpacking from Tokyo to Nagasaki (just walking). Could you maybe do a video on that? About walking long distances in japan, if there are calm roads not just highways across the country, and the best stops along the way. Thank you!

  3. My favourite pickle is still Hijiki, with or without edamame…! There was an anime some time back about the Japanese army in Hokkaido and a map that was drawn on the backs of some prisoners…

  4. I will visiting Mt Hakkoda and i admit i did know about the famous and sad story of these soldiers but didn't know that much. So Thanks for sharing
I hope i will be able to use the trains with all these recent problems : )

  5. May the Reiwa 8 brings peace and harmony to you . In such rare power outages one can go offbeat places to explore more of japan .

  6. Very interesting video, thank you very much Kengo-San. Learing about REIWA 8 (about this system of eras) was totally new for me.

I like tsukemono, especially when they are crunchy and not soft. As you like pickles, should you ever visit Tรผrkiye, they also have very tasty pickles (called tursu) there. And in some pickle shops (for example in Kadikรถy on the asian side of Istanbul), you can get pickle juice (tursu suyu), which is considered quite healty.

  7. I like this update series, lots of latest information about Japan which you may not be able to cover in your usual videos. Appreciate it ๐Ÿ˜Š planning to visit this year and this updates videos are very helpful. Thank you Kenchan ๐Ÿ˜Š

  8. Hehehehehe… it's almost 3 weeks into the new year, but here's me wishing you a happy New Year and fabulous travels, Ken-san! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽŠ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿป๐Ÿšต๐Ÿป๐Ÿง—๐Ÿป๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ๏ธโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿš โ›ฉ๏ธ

  9. Your guided tours are wonderful, and these new(?) potpourri broadcasts are educational and really interesting as well. I appreciate all of it – especially "this day/week in history" and your showcasing of traditional Japanese foods. Excellent. Keep up the great work!

  10. Weโ€™re coming back again later this year and will be following your travel video on the South Island. Tokyo for 3 days then fly to Hiroshima and rent a car for a week. Thank you for the inspiration. Darren & Rosie

  11. Thank you Kenchan for the unusual information on events past and also the pickles. Are these fermented pickles different from the usual ones that are more commonly served after a ryokan kaiseki meal which are pink radish or yellow thin slices? I think those are called oshinko?

  12. Itโ€™s nice to hear that PokePark will be opening this year, looking forward to see it in the future. Also itโ€™s really nice that you shared many good information here in this video (Reiwa 8, and Mt Hakkoda history). Thank you for sharing this one ๐Ÿ‘
