Samurai Artillery Demonstration in Kagoshima, Japan
Firearms in Japan were first introduced in 1543 at Tanegashima, Japan. The Shimazu clan was able to successfully manufacture firearms and produce gunpowder and bullets from the Portuguese. You might heard of the “Tanegashima” matchlock gun which dramatically changed warfare in Japan.
This was an interesting event demonstrated by the Satsuma Hioki Artillery Corps at Onamuchi Shrine (大己貴神社) in Hioki City, Kagoshima, Japan.
