  1. Thank you for watching! Please let me know how you think about this new update format. If you have any questions about Japan, travels, trains,… please let me know in the comments. I hope you have a great week. 🙂

  2. If it’s okay to ask, I want to avoid rain while I’m in Japan. I will be visiting in July. Do you think it will mostly be a dry/sunny experience? Because I have heard conflicting information. Some say the rainy season will still be a lot of July, but others say it ends with June.

  3. Konbanwa Kenchan san
China Eastern airlines cancelled operations to some Japanese airports.
Shizuoka Nigata Komatsu few that I know
Hope this issue gets solved soon🙏🙏

  4. It is nice to see a different style of video, very informative. I particularly liked the phrases and history sections. Hopefully you can produce more of the same in the future.

  5. Leave it to the CCP to push propaganda to their citizens. Truth is Japan is one of the safest countries in the world.

  6. I think it would make sense to include days around the current date for the little history section too! This video length feels just right, so you could squeeze the info and the bits, and those interested will search for it further.
But the phrases, yeah, it's worth having them not too rushed. And it really does feel like knowing even a little Japanese makes more difference than ever now. It's a bit of a challenge but it also comes with a tingling in the chest of extra warmness. Personally I want to embrace potentially awkward but warm memories too!

And this is just a bonus thought, that for the resident foreigners, I agree that the language should stay in focus and in continue practice. Ofc, while each to their own rhythm ☕️🌟

  7. When I first visited Japan, back in 2004, it was about 100 yen to a US dollar. That made the "math" easy. Just look at the yen price and drop that last two digits. (^.^)
While in Tokyo for 2025 Christmas, it was 156-ish; which was fantastic (for ME as a visitor). Enjoy it (visitors) while you can. Locals, please enjoy being in your homeland. It's awesome! (^.-)

Also, Japan is safe. Having WORKED in CHINA for FOUR YEARS (with Amazon) please take the "official" comments from THERE with caution. Accuracy is often lacking.
As Kenchan said, this is a fun channel so I'll skip my experience of "official reports not matching data". (^.-) Short Version: Japan is safe. MUCH safer than ANYWHERE.

  8. Great informational video, love this format. Nice blend of current affairs, Japanese culture, and travel tips

  9. Yeayyy…..i heard abt the China ban…..i booked air tics right away… Heading to Japan this coming March for Sakura n maybe heading north for skiing

  10. Thanks for this video. I said "Gochisosamadeshita" one time after eating in a restaurant and the server was very surprise and happy😀. I think Japan is one of the safest countries to visit so we just keep going back especially now that the yen rate is still high. I hope to go back this year. The lowest yen rate I've experience was US$1 to Y80 in 2012.

  11. We are Americans and love traveling to Japan. We have been visiting Japan twice annually since 2016. Some countries are not expensive but we are not interested because of the food quality, cleanliness and safety.

  12. This video provides a Japan travel news update for January 2026, covering various topics from currency exchange rates to cultural traditions and seasonal foods.

Here's a summary of the key points:

Japanese Yen and Travel Costs (0:34): The Japanese Yen has depreciated significantly against major currencies like the US, Canadian, and Australian dollars, as well as the Euro and British Pound, making travel to Japan more affordable for international visitors. While some prices like train fares and hotel taxes are increasing, these apply equally to both Japanese citizens and foreign travelers. There's a discussion about potential future price raises for international travelers at Tokyo's National Museum.
China's Travel Warning and its Impact (2:18): The Chinese government has warned its citizens against traveling to Japan, citing safety concerns. However, the video asserts that Japan remains safe for travelers, with no reported increase in violence against foreigners. The main impact on travelers is potential flight cancellations if flying via Chinese cities, with over 40 destinations between Japan and China already affected. Despite some media reports of falling hotel prices due to a lack of Chinese tourists, data from Kyoto indicates hotel prices are actually increasing, suggesting that travelers from other countries are filling the gap.
Winter Storm Alert (5:10): A strong winter storm is impacting mountain regions in northern Japan, bringing heavy snowfall. This has led to some train line cancellations, such as the old line connecting Aomori and Akita. Travelers to the Tohoku region are advised to check the latest updates on the JR website.
New Year's and Coming of Age Day (5:43): The video discusses Japanese New Year traditions, including eating osechi (special New Year meals) and sending nengajo (New Year's cards). It also highlights Coming of Age Day, celebrated on the second Monday of January, where those turning 20 attend ceremonies and often wear kimonos.
Seasonal Foods (7:30): The video introduces "Yuki Ichigo," a winter-exclusive sweet available at convenience stores like Family Mart and 7-Eleven, featuring a strawberry inside a soft manju. It also recommends trying various Japanese strawberries and even visiting strawberry picking farms during winter.
Travel Phrase: Itadakimasu & Gochisousama (9:00): The video explains the meaning and appropriate usage of "Itadakimasu" (said before eating as a show of appreciation) and "Gochisousama" (said after eating to thank for the meal), especially when leaving individually owned restaurants.
Today in History: Sakurajima Volcano (10:13): The video mentions January 12th as the day the Sakurajima volcano erupted in 1914. This eruption connected the formerly independent island volcano to the Kyushu island. Sakurajima, visible from Kagoshima city, remains an active volcano and a dynamic place to visit.

  13. Nice video. I like the way in which you speak when presenting each topic, very calm and peaceful. It is a pleasure to watch (^^)
