TOP 15 BEST Japanese Convenience Store Foods From Family Mart, 7 Eleven & Lawson! đŻđ” Must Try 2025!
we are here in Tokyo Japan and today it’s allÂ
about Japanese convenience stores And I love Japanese convenience stores So I’m taking youÂ
to Family Mart Lawson and 7-Eleven and showing you my five recommended items from each oneÂ
of those convenience stores Today we’re just go ahead and start off with the Family MartÂ
So let’s go inside First we are starting at Family Mart which was established in 1973 AndÂ
as of March 2025 Family Mart has over 16,200 stores in Japan and over 8,400 stores overseasÂ
Family Mart is well known for the collaboration with popular figures such as Pokemon as wellÂ
as restaurants and celebrities Also Family Mart focuses on providing unique products andÂ
catering to diverse customer needs So let me introduce you to Family Mart and show you myÂ
top five recommendations Okay we are here at Family Mart and I got a great selection of reallyÂ
wonderful savory items here at Family Mart And let me go ahead and start off by showing you guys theÂ
pizza bow Okay this is the pizza bun or pizza bow And this actually has ingredients of pizzaÂ
inside I had this previous year and I really fell in love with this So I had to make sure toÂ
show you guys this pizza bun And of course it has the sticky paper on the bottom Take this off AllÂ
right Here we go guys This is how it looks like inside Yes Look at that That is gooey lusciousÂ
cheese Look at that Oh this is so magical Look at this wonderful looking pizza bun Now I’ve hadÂ
my fair share of uh buns steamed buns like this in the past but this has become one of my favoriteÂ
steamed buns ever You have to try this if you love pizza Wow Has a wonderful marinara flavor AÂ
little bit sweet also cheesy Also it’s the in the warm case So this is still warm and freshÂ
And the bun is really bouncy and chewy This is so good M This never gets old A wonderfulÂ
pizza bun here at Family Mart All right Next is uh Onigiri Look at that guys This is a popularÂ
onigiri restaurant Bongo And they got a mission guide for their onigiri And it’s a very specialÂ
onigiri And now they’re doing a collaboration with Family Mart And yeah I’ve had this beforeÂ
Actually this um uh flavor is um spicy cod roe with mustard greens But I also had one with theÂ
egg and beef So but this one right here is also very good because of the way that it’s made ButÂ
let me go and show you guys this first Of course the tab wise take the front tab off Number oneÂ
they give you numbers here So it tells you how to take off uh the onigiri Okay so number one hereÂ
you take it all the way off from the back Okay just like that And then number two right here youÂ
just want to just jiggle it out Separate it Just like that All right And then number three youÂ
just want to jiggle it out and separate it Just like that And that’s how you take the wrapper offÂ
the onigiri But here you go Let’s take the first bite M Oh my goodness These mustard greens haveÂ
so much flavor Also there’s a lot of ingredients in here So my first bite I typically take it oneÂ
giddy I don’t get the ingredients But here I got the ingredients right away the first bite ReallyÂ
good But one thing special about this onigiri from Bango is that they don’t they don’t compressÂ
the rice that much It’s really kind of light and fluffy So the rice is really separated right soÂ
when you take a bite of this it’s really fluffy As you can see the ingredients are all the wayÂ
to the edge of the rice And a typical onigiri basically stuffs it right in the middle So this isÂ
really nice And as you can see how loosely packed the rice is That’s one thing special about thisÂ
onigiri So if you’re a fan of onigiri this is one of those things you want to try here at FamilyÂ
Mart Bango ones They’re really good I mean this is a good dive chocolate frappe And the way youÂ
do this is you want to first squeeze it like this right and you want to kind of loosen it up justÂ
like this Okay and after you squeeze it a couple times loosen it up And then what you want to do isÂ
you want to kind of take off this top lid here And this is how it looks You see that it’s all kind ofÂ
squishy And then take this lid off completely And then what we’re going to do is go inside and we’reÂ
going to put some of the frappe mix into this [Music] All right there it is This has theÂ
milk inside the frappe All right and then after you have the milk in hereÂ
all you want to do is take your straw and just go and stir it up Oh this looksÂ
so good And as you can see guys there is chocolate on the bottom here So make sure toÂ
stir up the bottom part too Just like that And they do have different flavors in thereÂ
too They had um like a milk tea like it’s called afternoon tea They also had a chocolateÂ
frappe and uh also blueberry frappe And also they have a um especially um Godiva one andÂ
also the strawberry frappe as well So but this uh Godiva series is out for a limitedÂ
time too So depending upon when you come here it might not be available But same time theÂ
frappes I’ve had also the other frappes as well It’s really really good frappe But I’mÂ
recommending this one here because of the fact that it’s available and it’s yummy It’sÂ
it’s almost like a milkshake to me You know what I’m saying cuz it’s a it’s a very smooth andÂ
luscious And also of course you added milk to it right so it reminds me of a milkshake but it’sÂ
a frappe All right here it is Dive a chocolate frappe M Oh my god that is so yummyÂ
also has pieces of chocolate in here as well Not chocolate chips but like pieces ofÂ
chocolate on top of that It’s a really decadent rich flavor of chocolate And um it’s a littleÂ
bit more like on the darker side of chocolate dark chocolate But if you guys like GodivaÂ
chocolate you’re going to love this This is so good Definitely a must try And the next item here at Family Mart guys is probablyÂ
my favorite item at Family Mart Yes the egg sandwich And I know a lot of peopleÂ
love 7-Eleven egg sandwich but to me I’ve had all three from three different convenienceÂ
stores and this has become my favorite Let me show you this So most sandwiches all you wantÂ
to do is back here there’s a tab You just want to go ahead and pull on this tab Okay just likeÂ
this There you go And this is how you open the sandwich And look at that LookÂ
at all this luscious egg inside the sandwich Here you go Egg sando from Family Mart Oh my gosh One of the wonderful things aboutÂ
this egg sando that I like not only because of the flavor is very luscious flavor but also theÂ
pieces in here As you can see the pieces in here are not all creamy There’s some chunksÂ
of the egg white as well as the egg yolk So I love the chunky pieces in there as well as theÂ
smooth and creamy parts of the sandwich So yeah this is so good All right this is what it looksÂ
like inside Look how much egg is in here in the sando And look at the color of this This is soÂ
nice It’s more of a kind of a orange deeper color cuz the eggs here are so good This is one of myÂ
must gets whenever I come to Family Mart is the egg sandal Really good So good All right And theÂ
next item that’s really popular here at Family Mart Probably one of the most popular things hereÂ
at Family Mart is Fami Chiki This is a deep fried chicken as well Let me go and show you thisÂ
One thing nice about this wrapper here they give it to you in is you can actually separateÂ
out here like this That way you don’t have to uh touch the chicken if you don’t want toÂ
Right Just like that See that here it is That chicken I can’t stress you enough how goodÂ
this is It’s a simple fried breaded chicken right but the flavor and seasoning they use onÂ
the outside is so so good Also the meat inside is super tender It’s like a thigh meat Man this isÂ
such a great fried chicken And one of the popular things here in Japan is basically what they callÂ
a Combini hack And it’s basically a combination of things at a convenience store that you putÂ
together to create almost like a new product And one of the popular Combini hacks is havingÂ
the family chicken in the egg sando sandwich So let me go ahead and show you guys this as well SoÂ
what you want to do is you want to open up your sandwich just like that And then what we’re goingÂ
to do is add the fami chichi to the sandwich and create a new sandwich chicken sandwich JustÂ
like that guys There it is We have the Fami Chicki egg sando So here it is We have the FamiÂ
Chichiy egg sando combini hack It’s a lot It’s a really craze It’s kind of like an Instagram alsoÂ
like Tik Tok craze So I want to kind of show you guys this since I’m here and two of my favoriteÂ
items here at Family Mart Why not go ahead and show you guys the Combini hack of the familyÂ
chicken and the egg sando let’s give it a try This works This works Wow This the creaminessÂ
of the egg salad along with the fried chicken the combination of that the sandwich combinationÂ
actually is a good combination and I really like it Yeah So if you come to Japan and come to FamilyÂ
Mart you might want to give this a try It’s really good And so that is my top five recommendationsÂ
here from Family Mart And we’ll move on to our next location which is Lawson Our next location isÂ
Lawson Lawson was officially established in 1975 and has over 14,600 convenience stores throughoutÂ
Japan and over 7,400 convenience stores overseas Lawson is popular for its original brand and theirÂ
biggest selling item is Karaage Kun which is the original chicken nugget recipe They’re also wellÂ
known for their variety of sweet treats So let me introduce you to my top five recommended itemsÂ
from Lawson All right our next foods you want to try is from Lawson’s And uh we went aboutÂ
purchased items from Lawson’s and then we came by nearby kind of a park area to kind of show youÂ
guys this food And we’re going to start off with something sweet cuz Lawson are known for theirÂ
sweet foods We’re going to start off with mochi puyo Wow This is very delicate Look at thatÂ
It’s jiggly This exterior is a very thin exterior And then you open this up and it’sÂ
going to be uh custard Oops Oh down here it’s going to be a custard as well as a Hokkaido milkÂ
whipped cream inside Look at that Oh and this uh exterior is very stretchy You can see thatÂ
Look at that guys Look how stretchy that is And look how creamy this is Look at this ThatÂ
is so much whipped cream in there Look at that Mochi puyo This is so goodÂ
guys I’m really excited for this I love mochi texture butÂ
this Hokkaido milk cream is so luscious It’s so good Wow AndÂ
the texture of this is so much fun You just want a simple sweetÂ
decadent treat get this This is so good All right Next is something I’ve discoveredÂ
I really can fall in love with It’s maguro tataki Yeah guys I’m so excited about this LetÂ
me show you this All right Here it is Look at this It’s like a Hawaiian musubi right it hasÂ
a nori on the outside And then if you open it up look at this guys That is minced tunaÂ
Negitoro And it also has a pickled daikon radish on the outside and has a little bitÂ
of sauce on there Look at that guys This is minced tuna Looks like a patty but thisÂ
is really tender Here you go This is it right here Look at that You see that so it’sÂ
pretty much like having sushi right in like a sandwich form And this is this is so goodÂ
One of my favorites Here let me show you this This has become one of my all-time favoritesÂ
from convenience stores Never knew that you can have naked toad like this sushi form It’s aÂ
great flavor Also has a pickled daikon in there pickled radish So it has a little bit of thatÂ
mingry Also you have the saltiness from the the tuna and the sauce And then you basically haveÂ
sushi rice with the seaweed So guys look at this Yeah this is definitely a must try right here If you like tuna sushi you’ll love thisÂ
Okay another thing I’ve discovered a while back from Lawson is they have a different version ofÂ
melon pan And this is actually a chocolate with a chocolate chips melon pan Look at that guysÂ
This is such a cool melon pan As you can see they have exterior chocolate as well as someÂ
chocolate chips But there’s a special secret to this melon pond Let me go and show you thisÂ
guys There you go You got a dab of whipped cream inside So yeah you get you’re getting the bestÂ
of all worlds here with the whipped cream as well The chocolate on the outside as well as chocolateÂ
chips Yeah if you want something sweet there you go Mhm I didn’t get to the whipped creamÂ
all the way But there’s chocolate outside It’s a wonderful milk chocolate LetÂ
me go and open this up for you guys Look it You see that that’s the whippedÂ
cream I’m take a bite with the whipped cream Melon pond bread soft fluffy butÂ
all these flavors coming together with the chocolate and outside the whipped cream andÂ
also chocolate chips Hey this has also become my new favorite as well Wow this is so good AnotherÂ
fun thing that I discovered from Lawson is they had a kuraage sando Now you may be familiarÂ
with maybe like a katsu sando Also they had a chicken cutlet sando But here this is karaageÂ
guys These are fried chicken inside of a sandwich These are really good as well Just like normalÂ
sandwiches you want to go ahead and pull this tab here Just like this All right So hereÂ
it is A kuraage sando from Lessons Here you go It’s so good I’m a big fan of kuraageÂ
and putting in a sandwich guys This is a great great sandwich Wow As you’ve seenÂ
like in the United States you have like the chicken burgers right from um friedÂ
chicken burgers from like different like Popeye’s or KFC But here fried chickenÂ
sandwich like this man Just as good Mhm Wonderful thigh meat Really tender And oneÂ
with craggy Sometimes they’ll also like marinade the chicken so you have a great flavor of theÂ
chicken as well as the batter also from Lawson if you don’t want uh sandwich form there’s alsoÂ
popular uh chicken called karaage kun from their display they have different flavors of likeÂ
chicken nuggets fried chicken there in the display so that’s really popular here at Lawson’sÂ
as well but at the same time I’m a big fan of the sandwich all right and one of my all-timeÂ
favorites when going to Lawson’s here you go Doramochi and very similar to the um theÂ
cream bun I had earlier doramochi It has the batter also with the like the rice flourÂ
Same kind of a mochi-ish batter but this one also has whipped cream and red beanÂ
paste inside Let me go and show you this All right here it is All right AndÂ
this like a pancake batter on the outside but like I said it has more of like aÂ
mochi texture And let me open this up for you Take a look Got the whippedÂ
cream as well as the red bean paste This is such a fun dessert All rightÂ
this is it This is Dora Mochi Here you go I know some people may not be fans of theÂ
red bean but man I’m a big fan of red bean as whipped cream This pancake that’s a mochi textureÂ
This is one of my favorite go-to for sweet treats here in Japan It’s like whenever I walk at theÂ
convenience store Lawson I’ll pick one of these up because just those are so good Lawson isÂ
also a wonderful convenience store to visit And I hope these five recommendations are goodÂ
for you guys to try Lawson out next time you’re in Japan But now we’ll move on to 7-Eleven OurÂ
final location is 7-Eleven This is probably the most recognizable convenience store in Japan withÂ
over 23,000 convenience stores in Japan and over 85,000 stores worldwide 7-Eleven was establishedÂ
in Japan in 1974 and has created an empire when it comes to convenience stores They operate 24/7Â
365 days a year providing a reliable source of goods and services to the many people of JapanÂ
making it incredibly convenient for daily life So let me show you my top five recommended items fromÂ
7-Eleven Starting with the strawberry sando If you come to 7-Eleven so you want to try a fruit sandoÂ
Yes that’s the fruit and whipped cream sandwich Also a must try right here in the back You justÂ
pull the tab just like this and this opens up your sandwich All right here it is The strawberryÂ
sando Let me go ahead and show you guys quick what it looks like inside There is theÂ
whipped cream and strawberries There’s the whipped cream on one side and then youÂ
can see the strawberries here on the other side Beautiful looking strawberries And thisÂ
is the time of year actually for strawberries So this is a seasonal fruit So yeah we’re hereÂ
at a good time to try this Here you go [Music] If you guys know about fruit here in Japan totallyÂ
different So much sweeter Such great flavor of the fruit Next is the brulee ice cream And I hadÂ
this before in my previous episode This brulee ice cream And yeah I fell in love with this iceÂ
cream So whenever I come back to Japan I have to get this ice cream Let me show this ice cream ThisÂ
brulee ice cream cracks Look at this Oh look at that You see that look at this brulee I love thisÂ
cracking part You see that i’m going take some of this brulee as well as the ice cream out Oh lookÂ
at that This ice cream looks quite lovely Look at that ice cream And we have nice caramelizedÂ
brulee on top This is a wonderful bite right here Not only is it amazing ice cream reallyÂ
creamy and soft but also the brulee has a very distinct brulee flavor Now 7-ElevenÂ
carries this but only in vanilla flavor But I also heard if you go to Donkey Donkihote storeÂ
they carry this and also chocolate So if you’re in Donkey and here in Tokyo check it out SeeÂ
if they have the chocolate But I’ll tell you what the vanilla one really good flavorÂ
All right I’m going to go ahead and make this asai smoothie What you want to do isÂ
go ahead and ask Candice and then take this off I also kind of give you instructionsÂ
here Open up and then Okay [Music] smoothie lid Look at this smoothie looksÂ
amazing This is a new flavor It’s a asai flavor Um typically I get like the strawberryÂ
banana but yeah this one looks really good as well Oh my gosh that’s so good Also these freshÂ
fruit smoothies it’s 100% fruit right so you’re getting a wonderful fresh smoothie These smoothiesÂ
are amazing Also when you come here to purchase like I showed you guys first we’re going to doÂ
is purchase this first and then you’ll scan the barcode at the at the machine and after thatÂ
take a lid off okay the plastic off and then put it back into the machine and then push okayÂ
That’s all you got to do But to make sure to take that lid off because I think some people haveÂ
taken it where they put it in without the lid off and that messes up the entire machine JustÂ
so you guys know make sure to take the lid off This doesn’t seem like a lot of smoothie whenÂ
you see it but at the same time the flavor is so intense with fruit flavor All natural GoshÂ
it’s so good It is kuraage that’s fried on a stick Wow that is so good That’s karaage TheÂ
batter is really great flavor of batter Also it’s crunchy but not too crunchy rightÂ
sometimes they get batter too crunchy but this is just perfectly crunchy The chickenÂ
is super tender but thus the flavor of the batter is really good So yeah this is definitelyÂ
a must try Okay of course another recommendation when you’re coming to uh 7-Eleven here inÂ
Japan is the tuna mayo onigiri And I’m not joking Believe it or not guys whenever I flyÂ
into Japan one of the first things I get is onigiri That is so good The tomatoÂ
mayo in here that makes the onigiri so special Also on Japan has a lighterÂ
and fluffier rice So but this is so good And they don’t skimp on the amount ofÂ
ingredients in here inside the onigiri Okay that is our top five items fromÂ
Family Mart Lawson and 7-Eleven Hope you guys enjoyed today’s episode It wasÂ
a lot of fun going to all these different convenience stores and show you guys my fiveÂ
recommendations from each of them And if you guys enjoyed today’s video make sure to smashÂ
the like button And as always guys appreciate your support Have yourself a wonderful dayÂ
and we’ll see you back next video Bye-bye

Onigiri is one of my all time favorite items at Asiaâs convenience stores. Great video Grif!
Beautiful shooting filming footage compilation yummy tempting delicious mouthwatering culture recipes and you rock it all again my friend ! .. lovely piece of work and thanks again ! .
I do the lazy girl tuna salad onigiri. I just put tuna salad over hot rice in a bowl and shake furikake on top. I usually have daikon radish on the side and the snack size toasted nori sheets to use to pick up bites of the tuna rice.
FamilyMart is a good choice for sweets like almond caramel popcorn, while Lawson excels in hot snacks like Karaage.
Definitely adding mochipuyo to our list!! No one talks about it but looks really yummy đ Love your convenience food videos â€

As someone who lived in Okinawa a total of 9+ years I can attest Japanese convenience stores Rock! Nice vid Grif, Safe Travels!
Onigiri is AWESOME.
Famichiki is legendary and those orange yolks in the egg sando are just đ. Your fried chicken and egg sandwich is one of the best hacks ever. Definitely canât beat Japanese convenience stores for the variety and quality! I really like the Asahi protein bars with the rice krispy outsides tooâŠ
We've been to Japan over 20 times in 25 years, including four trips last year, but I still wanted to check out this video after watching your KL and Singapore content. However, we seldom buy food from convenience stores.
This is the best video ever to be honest! Thank you for taking the time out to do this video!! So glad I ate before watching this đ

And, meanwhile in America the best we can do at our convenience stores is have hot dogs singing the theme from Rawhide all day long: rollin, rollin, rollin. Keep those doggies rollin.
Making me hungry!!
Good upload. Iâm currently in Japan and my daughter has dragged me into about thirty 7 elevens between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka with no luck finding a strawberry sandwich. Closes we got was peach and strawberry.

I found your channel for the first time. I find your content very interesting. I like how you talk and shoot each food, it's done professionally, good job!
The ambassador of 7-11 is home! Albeit in a new country haha. Sev needs to step up their game stateside, I'm one big bite hotdog away from a whole boycott! Ngl they just got a panini press at mine and the sandos are… decent. But it tastes convenient for lack of better words lol
I hate mayo, are any of the conbini egg sandos less mayo based than others?
Family Mart has a delicious Curry Pan. Itâs got good filling and a crunch with chewy bread. If you can find it, itâs in the fried items case.
Cool
Tuna mayo onigiri and other flavours was my go to meal.
14:30 the crow's reaction to the lack of cream filling
Ooooh, u got my mouth all watering. Am gonna try all these recommendations. Our Japan trip just got a lot easier. Love from Goa, India!
Not sure about the pizza bun, reminds me of a cheeseburger gyoza I once had – sounded good written down but it was just a bit odd.
Thanks for the advice, we can't wait to try everything!
Arigatou Gosaimasu!
Great video!
I hate youtube adds and there were countless before I reached the 10minute mark. I couldn't enjoy the video
Great video but I noticed that pretty much all the foods have a lot of plastic waste. Or is it a degradable plastic?
That family mart was the one I was going to in shibuya.. the hotel is literally behind that family mart in the beginning
what camera are u using? great quality!
really great video
