Denny’s in Japan Is NOT What You Expect!
Did you know Denny’s in Japan serves grilled fish for breakfast, mix and match valley meals for lunch, and even serve wine for dinner? Today, we’re eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner here to show you what it’s really like. Oh, good morning everybody. Welcome back. Good morning. It is super early in the morning here in Tokyo. You know, when I was growing up in Hawaii, of course, you know, we have Denny’s there and I’ve been there more than a few times. Unfortunately, I never loved the food there. Coincidentally, we have a Denise right across the street from our apartment where we live in Tokyo. So, we do go there for meals sometimes. We’re spending the whole day at Denny’s here in Tokyo from breakfast all the way to dinner. And trust me, it’s very different from the one in Hawaii or any other place. Good morning again. So, we are inside Denny’s and we’re sitting inside one of our favorite booths and uh we are ready for breakfast. So, let me explain to you really quickly how the breakfast works here. So, first option is a select morning. So, for 650 yen, you can choose from A, B, C, D, and E, scrambled egg, sunny side up, basted egg, or or over medium eggs. The E set is a Caesar salad. And you can choose one item from the selections below. And it comes with a drink bar all for 650 yen. That is pretty good. But if you want a little bit more food, choose the Grahams breakfast set. And this is for 950 yen. You also get a banana yogurt and French fries. And then if you’re not a big eater, just choose the light meal, which is basically eggs, bacon, salad, uh, drink bar, and toast. And then you have Japanese selections. And if you’re like a super big eater, you can even add additional sausage, bacon, etc. All ordering is done via the tablet. You can change the language to English, so it’s super easy. And FYI, there’s also English on the menu. Like it says scrambled eggs, basted eggs, pushut Caesar salad. Today, I want to eat a Japanese breakfast, grilled salmon set. So this one is consist of grid salmon, rice, miso soup, and side dish. You can choose from natto, small salad, and raw egg. I chose raw egg today. Also, you can choose with or without drink. And you guys know I usually don’t eat breakfast. So when I come to Denny’s, I usually have one of the lighter options, but today since um it is a special day, we are making a video for you guys, and I’m sure many of you guys eat a lot. Uh we’re going to go with the Denny’s Deluxe plate. This is a special one. This has like everything in it. You have all these options on the bottom here. And my personal suggestions is the grilled cheese toast, the mini French toast, or the pancakes. Of course, you can go with rice, miso soup, and natto, but I really like these three. Uh the pancakes are actually very delicious. They’ve improved. They’ve improved and they taste really good now. They have a drink bar and the variety is pretty extensive. So, you have your soft drinks here. Here you have iced tea, ulong tea. Um, if you don’t order the drink bar, you’re welcome to help yourself to ice and water. And then your oshi is right here, your hand wipes. I personally love that they have a variety of tea. They have sencha, chaun tea, they even have like apple tea, ear gray, etc. And of course, Satoshi’s favorite area is the coffee area. He only gets the the blend coffee, the drip coffee, you know, but you can also get like lattes and even iced coffee. And then this is where you get your glasses and cups. Morning should start with coffee. Delas, very good coffee. This morning I haven’t had my tea yet, so I’m so happy. I got sencha, which is Japanese green tea. Oh After this, I’m probably gonna get Hoji Cha. And then after that, I’m gonna get Earl Grey. I usually get like at least three cups, minimum three cups. And this is Denny’s deluxe plate. Check it out. Look at this. This is my first time having this actually. And it looks really impressive. So, first you have bacon. And what’s underneath here? You have some kind of sauce, too. You have avocado. You have That’s 100% beef, hamburg, fried potatoes. You have French toast with butter. You have an egg. And you have three pancakes. Look, you have three little pancakes. And you have maple syrup. I have a fried egg here. Can I move this to the side? Some people like to eat eggs with the pancake, but I I want my pancake just, you know, like that. And I have my p of butter here. Okay. So, I’m going to reserve that for my French toast. I realized the egg yolk of this egg looks pretty large. And I have my maple syrup here, but I’m just going to dunk it in if you don’t mind. M. The pancakes here are pretty good. I never had Denise pancakes for over 4 years because I never really enjoyed them. But now they’re very, very fluffy. They are flavorful and very delicious. So, I have a little bit of avocado with bacon. That’s delicious. I love avocados in the morning. Okay. And I believe this is the 100% beef hamburg. Denise is actually quite famous for their um hamburgs. M. Oh, that’s that’s actually very good. M. Super meaty and beefy. And the sauce goes really well together. And then let’s go for the French toast. One of our good friends from LA, whenever they come to Denny’s, they always have to get this French toast. They’re the ones that recommended this to me. M. That’s very good, too. Really perfectly well-made French toast. It’s a little bit eggy, custardy. All right, I’m gonna break the egg. Here we go. Oo. Oh, wow. Actually, the egg with a pancake is pretty good. So, mine is yaki chok. So, this comes with grio salmon, daon radish, rice, miso soup. I chose raw egg and nori seaweed. There’s a miso soup. What is it? I can see deep fried pouchi and wakame seaweed. Oh, this rice is perfectly cooked. They’re using very good rice. Little bit of soy sauce combine in this bowl. Make a well and pour over. This is my way. Look at this. This beautiful egg yellow color. M my egg yolk taste combined with rice taste. Beautiful harmony. This is the main of this set. It’s grilled salmon. And here’s a grated dy radish. Dip a little bit of soy sauce. It’s up to you. And put on this salmon. M. It has a great balance of salmon taste and salt. M. Perfect. So, we’re going to enjoy our lovely breakfast and we’ll see you guys for lunch. So it’s lunch time. The week days you can choose from this lunch menu. You can choose one main dish and one side menu. And also it includes drink bar. The main dish is there are two section A and B. A is rice or noodle section like pasta or rice kind of like that. The B area is meat things like haman steak, kalag chicken or pork steak and it comes with rice and miso soup and side menu. There are variety of side menus and if you want to eat Japanese things you can choose noodles and mini board set. It comes with your choice of noodles ramen or udong and small serving of rice bowl. If you have a big appetite you can choose hamburg. If you want to eat light and healthy they have a salad lunch. If you are super budget conscious, you can choose daily plate. It’s a one plate dish. It comes with the main dish and rice on in one plate. But the good thing is also it includes drink bar. I’m going to get this deep fried chicken kalag with vegetables in black vinegar sauce. Yeah, that one looks good. And for my side dish, I’m going to choose a green salad cuz I think I need some veggies and of course, well, drink bar that comes with it. I want to try this egg dorya. Dorya is one of the most popular dish here in Denise. This one is rice covered with white sauce, some shrimp and broccoli and baked in oven. It comes with very hot. So be careful. This brown dish is very very hot. M rice dish looks like riotto but different from misoto. It’s more like a casserole dish. White sauce gives a good umami. The shrimp is very plumpy and a nice shrimp taste combined with the sauce. So good. And my side dish is it’s stir-fried bacon and spinach dish. M very good season with salt. Perfect balance. Bacon gives a nice smokiness and meatiness to this village. And this set including drink bar. I am drinking coffee again. They have two types of coffee. One is machine one and another one is drip one. They have different beans and flavor is different. So today I ordered one of my favorite Denny’s dishes. It’s this one. It’s the It’s the deep fried chicken with the sweet and sour sauce or the black vinegar sauce. I love love love it. And since I I thought I needed some veggies, I got some salad. Look how pretty it looks. It’s so nice. I love the way they plate everything. Even something as simple as a side salad. I believe this is some kind of like carrot dressing. It’s um basically uh greens. Uh you got iceberg lettuce, you got some baby leaf, and you got cherry tomatoes as well. M. The vegetables are always always nice and fresh and crispy. And I love this carrot dressing. I really do. All right, so let’s try the chicken. Look at that. Look how crispy it looks. And it is um drenched in that beautiful sauce. M. It’s deep fried, but it’s so light and crispy and not oily at all whatsoever. The chicken meat is super tender, and the sauce is a little bit sweet, a little bit sour. It was just so delicious. And then I love um this um whole grain rice. This has like black rice and you got onions, you got broccoli, some yellow and red bell pepper. I’m going to eat that with my rice. M. That sauce is just so beautiful. I usually go with the clubhouse sandwich for lunch, but I’m glad I got this um because I never realized how delicious the the carrot dressing is. It’s really good. And I tried Satoshi’s uh shrimp dora. Delicious. To me, it tasted like a buoya base rice casserole. So, this is the matcha shiatama mini parfait. There is a matcha ice cream here. This is I think it’s vanilla. This is a shiatama and this is like a wab mochi. And then this is whipped cream. You got some uh kuromitsu black syrup sauce on top. There’s some granola. And then you have like layers of other things inside including uncle sweetened asuki bean paste. Oh, that’s wonderful. This is one of the best matcha ice cream I think in Japan. This is really good. They’re using matcha from Uji Koto. They got the mochi here. Let’s eat it with some of the whipped cream and the Japanese black sugar syrup. M. Nice and bouncy. This matcha cream is just so wonderful. What is it? I almost want this in a jar. I sometimes come to Denny’s to order the drink bar and this and that makes me super super happy. This dessert right here is so good. It’s like matcha cafe level. Like seriously, if you like matcha, you got to try this. Oh my gosh, I am so full. Me too. Me too. And I really satisfied. Me too. I’m overly satisfied. We had breakfast. I usually don’t eat breakfast. That breakfast dish that I had, the deluxe one. Really, really good. I think that would be great to share because that’s available all day, you know, for dinner or lunch. Oh, that’s all day. Yeah. So, I think that’s good to share with, you know, two drink bars. That is perfect. It was delicious. But I’m really, really looking forward to trying the dinner. That’s right. We have dinner. Okay. So, uh, yeah, we’re going to walk around town, burn off some calories, and then we’ll see you guys at dinner. So, after lunch, we went back to our home and took a rest. Yes, we really needed a nap after all that food. Mhm. And now we are at Weno Park. Yes, we heard that there is Denny is not too far from here. That’s our destination for dinner. All right, guys. Ready? So, this is the grand finale. It is dinner time. I actually want to start off with uh a couple of drinks and things to go with a drink. Yeah, that’s right. That’s something you can do here at Japan’s Denny’s. They serve alcohol like beer, wine, sour highball, and Japanese gin. So, I decided to get the Japanese gin. It’s actually really delicious. And Satoshi got beer. And we got a couple of things to go with the beer. So, today was very hot, so the beer must be very welcome. This is the premium Moritz. Very delicious beer. Cheers. Cheers. Goodbye. This is special potato salad. This one is consist of the potato salad, boiled egg and sauce, mayo sauce. And this is red cabbage, pickled red cabbage with pasti. So, potato salad first. very creamy and nice potato taste with a chunk of potato and carrot inside. So there is a not only creamy texture, there’s a vegetable texture. This is a uho sauce maybe egg and mayonnaise mustard. This is good. This is good. It’s potato salad, but it match with this beer. My favorite way of eating this salad is by mixing everything together. Trust me, this is the way you eat it. So, get a little bit of the potato salad. Get a little bit of that egg, the boiled egg, mix it up with this uh mayo sauce, and then also top it off with a little bit of the um the pickled red cabbage. This is like the perfect bite. M. Oh my god. We love this potato salad. So complex, so well balanced, acidity, savoriness, flavorful, and it goes so perfectly with my drink. Once again, I got the Japanese gin soda. This is really good. It’s called sui. Yes, and it comes in the special soy sauce as well. And we got one more appetizer, and this is the pasticho style gratan with Greek yogurt. It’s actually in the main meal section, but we like to eat this as an appetizer. It’s like the perfect size and it’s so delicious. And this goes really well with my gin, Satoshi’s beer, and also wine. So, basically, it is uh eggplants that are layered like this. And it is baked with some cheese, you got some sour cream, and underneath, you know, you have this beautiful um meat sauce. I think this is also like mashed potatoes. And you got like pennet pasta. This dish reminds me a little of musaka. Like like flavor-wise. It’s very very hot. That’s so good. Can you see? Look at that. You have all this pendant pasta. If you’re a light eater, this would make the perfect meal. Just add a salad to this, like a small side salad, and you’re good to go. So, next we have soup. Mine is onion gratan soup using aajishima onion. Aajishima onion is really sweet, very tasty onion in Japan. The on top is bucket with cheese. Be careful. This one is really hot. Oh, sweetness of onion. So it is inside of the soup. M good baguette with cheese soaked in this beautiful soup. M I’m really enjoying the natural sweetness and the flavor of the onion combined so well with the cheese. So delicious. I got the corn soup. This is my mother’s favorite soup at Denise. And I got to say the corn soup here at Denise is pretty good. It’s very creamy, made with real corn. This is so comforting to me. This reminds me of childhood when I was a child and we used to come to Japan every year during the summertime and we go to a family restaurant. My favorite soup was corn soup. I used to love this so much. Okay, so here is my beef stew, guys. There are chunks of beef in there with vegetables like carrots and roasted potatoes and broccoli. And I ordered this with a side of the bool. This is their uh bread. And I am a huge fan of this bread. It always comes piping hot like this and it is served with real butter. So, first I want to eat my bread because like I said, I love this bread. The texture is so beautiful. The outside is crusty. The inside is super nice, fluffy, and soft. And of course, when you just add the butter, because it’s warm, the butter instantly starts to melt. M I’m totally addicted to these dinner rolls. I’ll call them dinner rolls, but they’re better than dinner rolls. That’s the piece of uh beef right there. It’s very hot. M. This is so good. This is unlike any beef stew you’ve ever had. And the reason why I say that is because this beef stew is seasoned with a little bit of soy sauce. So, it’s made for the Japanese person that likes to eat everything with rice. And so, this sauce, this beef stew sauce is made to pair perfectly with rice. Let’s try the potato. I love the potatoes in the beef stew. As you can see, the the potatoes are added separately. These are baked first, so the outside is crispy. I like that. Oh, I love these potatoes. So good. I am going to take a bite with this beautiful sauce on the rice. I’m happy just with the sauce and the rice to be honest with you. I don’t even need meat because all the flavor of the meat is inside the sauce. So my main meal is hamburg steak with eggplant and seasoned vegetables. So this one is composed with ginger, good eggplant, green onion, pa leaves, tomato and grated daon radish and hamburg steak. And I ordered with rice. I want to eat with vegetables. M. This flavor combination is fabulous. in the meaty umami and vegetable textures with the accent of ginger taste and a little bit it has a little bit sourness. The all of these ingredients combined really nicely texture wise, flavor-wise, this is really good. This sauce flavor is very good with rice. Yes, it matches so nicely. Dennis is always make the seasonal dessert. Sometimes it’s mango, sometimes it’s shine mascot. And it’s peach season. So today is peach dessert. Mine is a fresh peach mini puppet. The component it’s the fresh peach here and fresh cream. I think it’s peach ice cream or so granola and ice cream inside. I think m I love a peach. This peach taste makes me so happy. So this is a peach cream and granola gives an accent texture accent. And here is ice cream and peach cherry. M peach. Peach. Peach. I eat the fresh peach. M. Oh, juicy peachy. Happy. All right. So I got the chocolate pudding parfait. My favorite one is the chocolate brownie parfait, but that one is too big. Lots of components here. That is a chocolate pudding. That is hot fudge sauce. You got whipped cream, a mint. You got vanilla and chocolate ice cream. And you have some kind of cream on the inside. Let’s dig in. I think there’s chocolate mousse in here as well. So, this is the chocolate pudding. You can actually order just the chocolate pudding by itself if you really like it. And if that’s all you want, it’s good. That’s good chocolate pudding. That’s also like reminding me of childhood. Okay. Okay. And you got chocolate ice cream here. Mhm. Delicious. And then you got vanilla ice cream. I’m going to eat that along with these um like um things. They remind me of like um chocolate cereal, like cocoa puffs. M. This makes me so happy. I have to always end with dessert, I tell you. And there’s a wide variety of desserts that you can choose from cuz it’s summer time. They even have kaki goi or shaved ice right now. And like Satashi said, it’s peach season. So if you like peach, go for one of the peach ones. But if you like chocolate, get this one. This one has your name on it. One more thing I forgot to mention. It’s not all chocolate. There are banana slices in here. Almost forgot to mention that. I thought that was important. Just in case you were not a fan of bananas or if you really love bananas. Can you tell I love banana chocolate combo? What a great way to end a meal. Unbelievable. We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner today at Denny’s in Japan. Uh you can usually find a Denny’s somewhere in the city. They’re located everywhere. Uh check out their website. The website is also in English, so you should have no problem locating one near your hotel. As you can see, the Denny’s here in Japan is completely different from the one in the US. And actually, it’s a different company, right? Japan, which is why it’s completely different. When they first came here, they had more American things like burgers and stuff like that. But slowly, they start to change and they start to cater to the Japanese people. And I think they are better now than when they first arrived here. And once again, it’s a very, very popular place among the local people. The locals love it, especially families. We want to do more videos like this one. Denny’s is just one of the few family restaurants here in Japan. There are several more. Um, if you want to see Please be excited by the phrase of the stuff. So, see you in the next one. Bye-bye. Bye.

Live the reasonable size, price , and flavour.
If I didn't have Asian family I would be eating absolute trash.
Japan does so many chain businesses better. Denny's is another fine example. Others are 7-11, McDonalds, Dominos, KFC, just to name a few. The offerings in Japan are generally less expensive, higher quality and better tasting. Another great video guys!!
Ofcourse, most American dinners suck!
Too many americans lack any taste nor any remote inkling of sophistication or flavor beyond sweet and salty!
Oops! Fat is supreme!
I wanted to mention A1 bakery in Brunswick. This is the place to go Melbourne.
Definitely would love to see a video on Jonathan's and the other kinds of family chain restaurants of different kinds!
I never been to Denny's. There isn't one in the Netherlands and in Tokyo never had one close by. But the food looks amazing. I looked up where the closest one is where I usually stay in Tokyo and marked it on maps. I just have to go😅
Really hope I can convince my uncle and aunt to go to Denny's while we are in Tokyo. It looks sooo good.
Denny's in Japan is just built different. I give them a 9 out of 10. The Denny's in the United States? It gets a zero out of 10.
the parfait looks delightful!
I'm sure I would devour it 🤤
Denny's is 200% better in Japan than USA or Canada.!
That’s crazy ! Here in America the quality and service at Dennys is no where near as that !! The food is placed perfectly on the plate – then we are expected to tip no matter what .Also the place is spotless and laid back !
Jealous 😅❤
I never knew Denny's was so gourmet, but those dishes were beautifully composed & looked delish!
Okay, Denny’s having Lemon Sours means a must try next time I’m in Japan (got addicted to lemon sours during my trip there last year. Have to make my own version here in America 😢)
Thats it ill go there right NOW HAHA
We really enjoyed Denny's in Japan. Great place for breakfast especially.
My sensei told me that the Dennys on Japan in the best I can’t wait to try it
Hawaii Denny is really horrible
Peach season in Colorado too! Delicious!!!
I just noticed your PRIDE ring, LOVE IT!!!!! 🎉❤🎉❤
dang, looks like Denny's became 100% Japanese, and thats fine, looks good though, especially that drink bar
I love US Denny's. But man, oh man, I'd appreciate if they added Japanese food to their menu for convenience
im glad japans dennys has an awesome menu i dont like hawaii dennys probably the only thing decent is the breakfast but if had a japanese type breakfast i would be happy n of course the meals here are very expensive people have a hard
time eating out n in hawaii got many better
places to choose from i enjoyed your video
Thanks for sharing. Yum. Have an amazing week.
This was an awesome vid. It was a nice respite from your other wonderful Japanese food vids. As a Japanese/American in USA it was incredible to see the Japan Denny's. They rival fine dining in America. Thank you for such a wonderful vid.
Looks terrific! I like family style restaurants and cafes. Please do a series. I hope Shinichi isn't too stuffed. 😃
Note – the Denny's is owned by the company that owns 7 Eleven. For some that might be a turn off in terms of the quality of the food (is it freshly cooked, or is it pre-pared like you find in a konbini, and then heated on site). I'm not sure if you can tell, but I guess it depends on what you order, whether you feel the quality is worth the dining experience and price or what. I'd be curious how it compares to other Family Restaurant chains like Royal Host.

I am not sure i could do the eggs on pancake thing!
Drink bar ! Drink bar! Drink bar!
Lol@ us eating alot😅😅 Yes. We do, so thank you for ordering up😅❤
Your guys are soooooooo close to 600k subs 😊. C’mon people…like, subscribe and repost.
The food choices seems to be larger in Japan Dennys. But, after going over the American menu the selections are just as diverse but, the traditional American meals like chicken fried steak, sirloin steak BLT, Reuben Sandwich, etc. make the menu items about equal.
But, I must say the one item that is an everyday goto that I cannot get used to is raw egg. I can’t even watch another person eat raw egg. Lol.
More family restaurants, please! 🙏
Great video. I haven't tried the Dennys their but will definitely go next time!
I like dipping my pancake/French toast in egg yolk. Also the meat, too. I also love the Japanese style breakfast. I cannot find anything similar around here. Can you dip the salmon in the raw egg?
The lunches look great, too. What's in the red rice?
I'm just wondering, does Ueno still have that really amazing zoo? I remember visiting in 1985.
I love Japanese potato salad. It's the best. And Japanese Denny's is so much better than American! I like soy sauce to give umami to American food. I made taco rice a few times. You two are great!
I haven’t eaten at Dennys for a long time. Here in SoCal, the quality has decreased. We still have Norm's, Ihop and Coco's for a more inexpensive meal.
Of course in Hawaii, got Zippy's and a lot of local places.
Yes please! More of these!!!
Ok I am visiting Dennys next time i go to Japan! Everything looks amazing
