a long ovverdue girls’ trip to japan 🌸

These are my two best friends, Riley and Gabby.
We’ve been friends since elementary school, best friends since sixth grade, and
over the course of our friendship, we’ve been very lucky to go on so many
fun trips together. But I’ve been waiting forever to go to Japan together. And
this spring, it finally happened.

the trip finally left the group chat ✈️

After years of friendship and fun travels together, we finally made it to Japan! Despite having been to Japan a bajillion times to visit family and vacation, Gabby and I have never been in Japan at the same time, so it was exciting that our first time traveling together happened to be for Riley’s first time!

We started off with a few days of sightseeing and shopping in Tokyo, then Riley and I went to Shizuoka for a little scenic escape while Gabby visited family. We met back up again at a ryokan in Hakone, where we had a fun, traditional course meal and enjoyed the hot springs. Finally, we headed back to Tokyo in time to catch a bus tour of some of Tokyo’s cherry blossoms, and ended the trip with a mini izakaya hop.

It’s funny to think about it now, but despite how badly I’ve wanted this trip for years, I was worried that the timing wasn’t right when we began to plan the trip. I’m so happy to say that I was completely wrong. It ended up being the most perfect time for us to celebrate our respective graduations and jobs and enjoy the spring break together — which was also our first time all together in two years.

Filled with nothing but gratitude for my friends and our mothers, hope for our careers, and excitement for future trips together, I’m happy to present this little video of my week in Tokyo, Shuzenji, and Hakone with my best friends.
