It’s the month of May and that means festival season here in Tokyo and Sanja Matsuri is one of the wildest in Japan. During this festival, the streets of Asaka come alive with raw energy and excitement. Here you’ll see drums, dancing, street food, and over a 100 mikoshi or portable Shinto shrines paraded through the streets by locals who chant, sway, and give it everything they’ve got.
