Japan Travel Myth Busted: You CAN Use Credit Cards!

This is one that I felt was a little bit
exaggerated so while it’s technologically   advanced it’s mostly a cash society cash is king
have your Suica card top it off have it ready the   reality is very very few of our transactions
uh we ended up needing cash most places take   credit card it wasn’t a big deal a lot of
the advice like if you’re going to go to a   7-Eleven for example make sure you have your
sweet card you’re going to need that nah not   really they take credit card they all take credit
card if I had to estimate but I would say maybe 5   to 10% of our total spend was using cash and
out of that most of that went towards trains

Think Japan is still a cash-only country? Not anymore! 💳

We just got back from Japan and were surprised by how many places accept credit cards—restaurants, convenience stores, even train stations! Suica cards and cash are still useful, but don’t stress if you’re traveling without a wallet full of yen. 🙌

Bonus: Using your credit card means you can earn travel points while exploring Japan! 🛫💰

  2. Be sure to also bring an international credit and debit card with no foreign transactions fees. A good combo is using the Chase Sapphire Reserve for credit and Charles Schwab investor debit card for the few times you'll need to withdraw cash.
