Today I’m gonna follow my Japanese wife, Maiko, on her typical supermarket grocery run. The things she buys vs the things I buy is quite different so I wanted to share with all of you all the supermarket items that find a way into her shopping cart. Because of Japan’s unique culture and lifestyle, her go to groceries may surprise you and may give you some tips on what to buy the next time you are at a Japanese supermarket. Let me know in the comments, how everyday Japanese grocery items differs from your home country.

Yes, I agree. Bread department deserves their own video lol
That’s not enough food to feed Paolo’s appetite
Nice video! Really surprised how cheap the fish and meat was!
So basically she buys a bunch of industrial items🤨
i have NEVER seen a full sized yakult…..
When we stayed in Osaka for 10 days, there was a supermarket just down the street from our Airbnb, it was called Oasis. Most of the time we did eat out, however at least for one of our meals we would cook our own meals at the Airbnb and we loved going to the supermarket. It was so interesting to see the different options from what we were used to seeing in Canada. Probably the highlight was always running into the same cashier who was excited to see us in the evenings and then we would tell her where we had explored that day; either walking around Osaka or hopping on a train and seeing Kyoto or Nara.

You say ''Japanese Wives'' allot is I was wondering if being a 'Housewife(s)' is an occupation in Japan ?
Watching a mother shop in a supermarket gives me flashbacks to when I was a child shopping with my mom and she… talked to everyone she ran into at the store. Picking up a few things took hours. I hope no one else every has to go through that.
Interesting how in Japan the word for bread is the same word used in Spanish "pan".
Hello, do grocery stores also do tax free shopping? Asking because there are two price tags on each item in the video. Thank you very much in advance!
I live in Australia, and I am amazed at the variety of meats in your supermarket. Amazing.❤ So blessed.😊
Ohhhh YEssssssss. Maiko video. The things I wanna do to her.
This is so helpful! My family is moving to Japan in a few months. Although I am a little worried about what it will be like buying food for a family of six at at a grocery store so often, I am so excited to be able to shop at supermarkets like this one! It feels so much more aesthetically appealing when the store is so pretty and clean!
Thank you for sharing…your wife literally glows while doing an everyday task! 😊
Anything salted the flavors gonna change depending on how m7ch salt ya use.
in the use, when i cook beef or pork / bacon and have the grease or fat drippings, i just put them in a pyrex container thats safe for hot stuff and pop in the freezer than throw in the trash. interesting on the things that soak it up.
Please do Japanese bakeries and Patisserie they are fantasic and great value !
Love you videos!! Also, maybe you could make a video about the process of moving to Japan? I think most people are curious about that and was wondering about it. ❤
No, I'm not familiar with Atlantic salmon. I'm American and retired, so I can't afford that kind of luxury. Or eggs. I can manage cup noodles, though.
The sheer range of stuff can be overwhelming 😅
Still, doing grocery shopping was one of my favourite things when I visited Japan
In western kitchen even these semi homemade meals are hard for the commen person to make. Lol especially young adults do not like to cook.
We need to see her cook the food for the family. Lol
I like cod and salmon but I couldn't eat it like Japanese people do and I certainly couldn't eat it raw or eat octopus
I love her backpack
what was the total? and for how many days of meals was she shopping?
Yes. They stock a mixture but have a lot of the Kirkland brand products
"OOOHHH FROM THE LOGO" as a Steph Curry fan this was my favorite part LOL
