In this video we explore the nightlife areas of Kabukicho & Shinjuku in Tokyo

Watch all our Japan Videos here:

Music by:
Epidemic Sound (http://share.epidemicsound.com/zvTQF)

so the spot that we’ve come to for the nightĀ
life is called kabukicho supposed to be oneĀ Ā
of the most popular areas for like bars thingsĀ
like that and yeah it’s almost pitch black nowĀ Ā
so things are looking real cool going to checkĀ
out some bar streets I think there’s also someĀ Ā
shopping areas that look nice too is this theĀ
right way Carol I don’t know need to check theĀ Ā
map yeah W look at all the lights back thereĀ
which place are we going first maybe thato yoĀ Ā
so if you watched our first video from TokyoĀ
and Japan this is where we wanted to come butĀ Ā
it started raining so we didn’t make it hereĀ
and once again another jamack place in TokyoĀ Ā
everywhere I think this one’s even more yeahĀ
so this is omo Yoko one of the cool bar streetsĀ Ā
yeah this is awesome look at this why I wantedĀ
to come here oh wow even better that [Music]
way they’re all so tiny yeah it’sĀ
like for like two or three peopleĀ Ā
inside yeah some of them cram togetherĀ
so there’s actually another one thatĀ Ā
I think is like this but bigger so IĀ
think we’re going to go to that one toĀ Ā
afterwards we’re not quite hungry yetĀ
anyway you ever seen bars like this before
no yeah very different likeĀ
six seven seater bars all of
them yeah but you’ve probably seen from theseĀ
videos just how many interesting places TokyoĀ Ā
has basically all the naor that you goĀ
to all very different [Music] [Applause]
too so the nickname of that placeĀ
is piss Ali I guess CU it’s a bigĀ Ā
drinking place we’ve come outside the alleyway nowĀ Ā
but it still kind of looks to same sameĀ
a lot bigger though more space in these
ones man so so many food options are
nonstop man so this is easily one of the coolestĀ
places that we’ve ever walked at night in a cityĀ Ā
just look at this so colorful all L up it’sĀ
kind of funny cuz it’s just advertisementsĀ Ā
right and billboards certainly cooler thanĀ
advertisements and billboards in the westĀ Ā
yeah yeah I think when people think of JapanĀ
this is one of the most iconic images thatĀ Ā
people have that’s what I had in my mindĀ
before coming here even the van yeah it’sĀ Ā
really really impressive yeah I love it thatĀ
looks like some sort of video game over thereĀ Ā
I used to play a lot of Japanese videoĀ
games Nintendo Sega Tekken looks like
[Music] Tekken so I mention that this placeĀ
is known for its night life apparently it’sĀ Ā
like a big red light district too my adultĀ
entertainment good place to bring my parentsĀ Ā
yeah sometimes we see it like a girly barĀ
and I think that’s the kind of thing thatĀ Ā
you’re talking about Gentleman’s Club yeah wowĀ
though I’m in love with this place yeah that’sĀ Ā
definitely some red light kind of stuffĀ
so the only other time that we went to aĀ Ā
place that kind of looked like this was in TaiĀ
taiwwan but in Tokyo it’s just so much biggerĀ Ā
plus there’s many different neighborhoodsĀ
that are kind of like this although thisĀ Ā
is probably the most impressive one we’veĀ
seen so far for the for the lights [Music]Ā Ā
so I’m guessing that during the day cars comeĀ
through here and then maybe at night it’s justĀ Ā
a walking Street it is a weekend thoughĀ
so I don’t know if it they only open itĀ Ā
on the weekends Friday night I’m not sure it’sĀ
a Saturday today oh my God even more let thereĀ Ā
be light ever been anywhere like this beforeĀ
M isn’t it I don’t even think Vegas was likeĀ Ā
this was it no it’s a different atmosphereĀ
different real here more real yeah Vegas forĀ Ā
some reason seems kind of fake whenever we goĀ
there they do have the lights and stuff thereĀ Ā
but nothing like this for some reason there’s aĀ
crowd of people here I don’t know what’s going
on they all seem to be staring at the restaurant
[Music] doing a show or [Music]
[Music] something what is it aĀ
food dance yeah L old I don’t know
[Music]
so I think we’re going to go to the otherĀ
bar area now we’re kind of hungry and weĀ Ā
might have to queue up for a while I’mĀ
guessing we’re going to have to with theĀ Ā
amount of people that are around hereĀ
very close though so all these placesĀ Ā
are just walking distance from each otherĀ
smoke coming out of there is it from this
building wow look
at the robot show wonder what that is lookĀ
at this part too like a cave the entranceĀ Ā
yeah yeah these Alleyways look a bit moreĀ
shady Tokyo at night is definitely Wild
[Music] [Applause]Ā Ā
I haven’t seen that many casinos thoughĀ
I don’t know if they have casinos aroundĀ Ā
here kind of looks like the kind of areaĀ
that would have casinos not sure if that’sĀ Ā
even legal in Japan this one’s way moreĀ
laidback isn’t it yeah better isn’t itĀ Ā
if you want to read probably it’ be easierĀ
to get a place so this one is called Golden
guy I’m not sure why it’s empty maybe it’s more at
night I thought it was going to be the same as theĀ Ā
first street that we wentĀ
down and yeah doesn’t she
like yeah so we just need to findĀ
a place that has space for fourĀ Ā
people some of them really do only fit inĀ
three or four and then it’s packed [Music]
so that didn’t go to plan the majority ofĀ
the places were just B and we were lookingĀ Ā
for food and the ones that had food were allĀ
busy we did find one that was empty but thenĀ Ā
she said oh if another group comes uh canĀ
we give them your seats so I wasn’t goingĀ Ā
to eat there and then leave while I’m eatingĀ
so yeah that wasn’t an option it was a reallyĀ Ā
cool place though but I’m guessing since itĀ
was a bar area that’s why it’s not busy stillĀ Ā
kind of early I think it’s around 7:00 p.m. soĀ
we’ll find food somewhere else I mean there’sĀ Ā
loads of food options here I just wanted toĀ
eat one of those cool little ones that’s allĀ Ā
so luckily we didn’t have to walk too far toĀ
find a cool little place I didn’t mention inĀ Ā
the other videos but you definitely needĀ
Google Translate in Japan and then you canĀ Ā
just like take a picture and it will translateĀ
everything been using this all the time one yes
and two hot and sour soupĀ
two hot and sour soup we show
you so it turns out that this place is mainlyĀ
Chinese food they still have some JapaneseĀ Ā
food though but I think my dish that’s comingĀ
is Chinese but me and my dad got saporo beerĀ Ā
that’s Japanese beer really good beer probably getĀ
another one after this got some Ed momy here andĀ Ā
Mom gotas what is coconut drink oh yeah coconutĀ
like coconut milk instead of the coconut waterĀ Ā
and the gu’s got the menus on the wall $450 soĀ
pretty nice price and I’ll show you the otherĀ Ā
food soon they have some interesting things hereĀ
I don’t know if that’s Jin s some sort of berriesĀ Ā
is that that GOI Berry thing maybe some sort ofĀ
healthy drink I guess so I went for this noodleĀ Ā
soup with pork ribs not exactly sure how muchĀ
it is I forgot to check I think it’s aroundĀ Ā
800 900 car this fish yeah fish and sweet andĀ
silver sauce also looks nice and what’s yoursĀ Ā
dad spicy chicken is it spicy no it’s just niceĀ
nice amount yeah yeah I think that’s cars thereĀ Ā
900 I think overall we’ve been surprised by theĀ
price of food in Japan a lot cheaper than weĀ Ā
expect yeah I thought it was going to be superĀ
expensive people always talk about Japan beingĀ Ā
crazy expensive yeah only the accommodationsĀ
have been very expensive but the food not notĀ Ā
at all and the accommodation is more becauseĀ
we’re in cherry blossom season yeah so I’m notĀ Ā
really seeing Japan as super expensive a lot ofĀ
the places that we go the attractions are freeĀ Ā
so my food is seriously good might actuallyĀ
be the best dish that I’ve had in Japan soĀ Ā
far extremely tasty the meat what did you endĀ
up getting fried pork with rice and it’s niceĀ Ā
it’s good is that onions yeah oh loads of onionsĀ
loads of it it’s [Music] nice thank you byebye
so we’re heading back to Golden guy now cuzĀ
we want to get some more drinks wanted to goĀ Ā
to some of those bars too I think it shouldĀ
be easier to get a seat now I hope so onlyĀ Ā
for drinks yeah and from what I read uhĀ
those types of bars that are very famousĀ Ā
here around this area are called hakaya hakayaĀ
the little Alleyway ones yeah I think it’s justĀ Ā
like the bars where people go to socializeĀ
and they are tiny I think that’s what it
Isa that nice little wway out in the middleĀ
of the city like a nature walkway all rightĀ Ā
mission to find a cool bar I think some ofĀ
them are already busy yeah no room for fourĀ Ā
in there this one looks nice yeah alsoĀ
full though it’s a bit more movement nowĀ Ā
yeah cuz it’s getting late yeah I think IĀ
think later on at like 11 and 12 probablyĀ Ā
be even busier I think right now it’s still 8:30Ā
snake saki snake saki second floor that one theĀ Ā
the bars look really cool look at this one yeahĀ
look at this one man and these two guys were inĀ Ā
the restaurant with us just now oh yeah sameĀ
guys same plan that we had round two alcoholĀ Ā
yeah literally everywhere it’s jam packed evenĀ
the bars I wonder if people make reservationsĀ Ā
oh this one’s kind of empty you want to go hereĀ
though is there a reason a dodgy bar there’s noĀ Ā
beer it’s all whiskies and things anotherĀ
one four here is yeah you want to go in
here four okay I’ll have the plum wine plumĀ
wine with like to drink with like The RockĀ Ā
soda with water uh can be on the Rock theseĀ
other ones this one is from Rice this one isĀ Ā
made of sweet potatoes the rice one rice riceĀ
one so all our drinks were 900 dad just wentĀ Ā
for the sephor again looks like seven up it’sĀ
like a rise something right have you tried itĀ Ā
yeah it’s kind of it smells flowery but it’sĀ
nice yeah I could have done mine with sodaĀ Ā
as well what did you get with yours sh I don’tĀ
know if I pronounce it correctly but it’s theĀ Ā
Japanese famous hard liquor mine is the baseĀ
of it is sweet potato sweet potato yeah that’sĀ Ā
interesting yeah but also with soda and it’s notĀ
that strong really because of the soda like justĀ Ā
like your mom said really good I like it I’ve hadĀ
the plum wine before decent he will still be fineĀ Ā
I think he is I think I really like it hor whenĀ
you ask it to do not good too sweet I like reallyĀ Ā
cool looking bar though I could drink him barsĀ
like this every weekend all right we left thatĀ Ā
bar we’re still looking for the karaoke one thisĀ
one is one kind of dead though nobody in thereĀ Ā
so this is the one that we’re going for Jim BeanĀ
by Champion Filipino flag so it has to be [Music]
[Music] good I tried so hard got soĀ
far the air it doesn’t even matterĀ Ā
so all the alcohol here is 500 what didĀ
you get this time saki yeah there’s notĀ Ā
much space in here cool spot though LivelyĀ
what are you going to sing carol Oasis the
[Music] classic and all theĀ
we had to walk a winding CU
mayy you’re going to be the one that saves
me and after
all you’re my
[Music]
Wonder for
[Music]
so that’s going to be it for this video my cameraĀ
actually ended up dying it ran out of battery butĀ Ā
we ended up spending around 3 hours at thatĀ
karaoke place 3 hours of terrible singing itĀ Ā
was amazing but yeah really good night thoughĀ
the night life in Tokyo just seems somethingĀ Ā
else never seen a place like that before andĀ
I had heard before that the Japanese do likeĀ Ā
their alcohol and yeah there was a lot ofĀ
wasted people we ended up having to leaveĀ Ā
before 1200 cuz our metro line closed before 1200Ā
so yeah a lot of people were heading there beforeĀ Ā
it closed a lot of zombies it was like like TheĀ
Walking Dead with drunk people there’s actuallyĀ Ā
a guy sat next to me like he looked like heĀ
passed out I was shaking him to try and wakeĀ Ā
him up and he wouldn’t wake up at all and thenĀ
these other Japanese guys were like it’s okayĀ Ā
you can leave him so like all right but yeah heĀ
wasn’t waking up at all and we’ll probably endĀ Ā
up filming at night in some other places cuz IĀ
think some of the other cities are also a bitĀ Ā
like Tokyo with the lights and the bars so yeahĀ
probably in a future video we’ll film a similarĀ Ā
kind of thing so if you like this one just dropĀ
a like as usual to support us subscribe see moreĀ Ā
videos like this follow us on InstagramĀ
and we’ll see you in the next one [Music]

  1. No casino or random gambling allowed in Japan, that's why they're addicted to Pachinko šŸ™‚

  2. Great video again! Tokyo is just the max. The city is second to nothing, when it comes to the size, the density, the endless variety of bars, streetfood, markets, cafĆ©s, anything. And the entertainmentā€¦.. I visit Tokyo frequently for business and I always get invited by the customers to go to the clubs. Insane. Your video makes me wanna go again, but I will only be there in 2 months in June.

    Enjoy! ā¤

  3. well, I'm Japanese, but Kabukicho is a completely different world, even from a Japanese point of view. I bet 99% of Japanese have never experienced such fancy nightlife.

  4. Oh no! you guys walked right past the Robot Restaurant, that is a fixture of Tokyo nightlife, every tourist goes there, itā€™s the most tacky and insane show youā€™ve ever seen.

  5. I had to laugh when I saw the Philippine flag at the karaoke bar. The only country that delights in karaoke more than Japan is the Philippines.

  6. What a fun nightlife you and Carol sing great lol thank you for your great videos. I can see how the Japanese people stay so slender they walk everywhere! Looking forward to your next video your parents seem pretty laid-back and fun to be around.

  7. Tokyo looks very tacky to me. Not a place I would visit. Been to a couple of Asian cities, did not like any of them. People are very cold and mean looking.

  8. Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video todayā€™s from Tokyo, Japan to shows these amazing places to meet some amazing people on the streets in Asia 2024ā¤ā¤ā¤

  9. That Filipino bar was shocking. Planning my second trip to Tokyo, although I've been to Piss Alley before, will definitely explore more next time. Thanks for this video.

  10. Another Awesome Adventure Chris & Carol Thank You šŸ™‚ā¤šŸ‘Watching from NB CanadašŸ™‚Looking forward to the next Awesome AdventurešŸ™‚ā¤šŸ‘

  11. I had several Japanese customers. Going to a real karaoke bar was fun as the real winner was the person that was the worst. lol. Nothing like drunk Japanese guys (big time execs) to show you what it is really all about.

  12. Tokyo accommodations are on the high side price-wise, and almost always for small rooms.
When you go outside Tokyo it becomes way cheaper and rooms get bigger

  13. I heard somewhere that it is really difficult to go around the city without google maps or something like that, and I see you guys also needed a little help at some point

  14. Enjoy your parents and traveling with them around the world. I recently lost both of my parents and would give anything to be with them again

  15. I'm really enjoying Chris' parents being on this trip – I knew they would be nice from how Chris turned out, but they're even better than I expected! His mum's accent is such a cool mix of Brazilian and northern english!

  16. Great to see you all on a pub crawl in Tokyo. Great singing. šŸ¤£ Love all the neon lights. šŸ‘šŸ˜ŠšŸ‡ÆšŸ‡µā›©ļø
