In this video we explore the nightlife areas of Kabukicho & Shinjuku in Tokyo

Watch all our Japan Videos here:

Music by:
Epidemic Sound (http://share.epidemicsound.com/zvTQF)

so the spot that we’ve come to for the night
life is called kabukicho supposed to be one
of the most popular areas for like bars things
like that and yeah it’s almost pitch black now
so things are looking real cool going to check
out some bar streets I think there’s also some
shopping areas that look nice too is this the
right way Carol I don’t know need to check the
map yeah W look at all the lights back there
which place are we going first maybe thato yo
so if you watched our first video from Tokyo
and Japan this is where we wanted to come but
it started raining so we didn’t make it here
and once again another jamack place in Tokyo
everywhere I think this one’s even more yeah
so this is omo Yoko one of the cool bar streets
yeah this is awesome look at this why I wanted
to come here oh wow even better that [Music]
way they’re all so tiny yeah it’s
like for like two or three people
inside yeah some of them cram together
so there’s actually another one that
I think is like this but bigger so I
think we’re going to go to that one to
afterwards we’re not quite hungry yet
anyway you ever seen bars like this before
no yeah very different like
six seven seater bars all of
them yeah but you’ve probably seen from these
videos just how many interesting places Tokyo
has basically all the naor that you go
to all very different [Music] [Applause]
too so the nickname of that place
is piss Ali I guess CU it’s a big
drinking place we’ve come outside the alleyway now
but it still kind of looks to same same
a lot bigger though more space in these
ones man so so many food options are
nonstop man so this is easily one of the coolest
places that we’ve ever walked at night in a city
just look at this so colorful all L up it’s
kind of funny cuz it’s just advertisements
right and billboards certainly cooler than
advertisements and billboards in the west
yeah yeah I think when people think of Japan
this is one of the most iconic images that
people have that’s what I had in my mind
before coming here even the van yeah it’s
really really impressive yeah I love it that
looks like some sort of video game over there
I used to play a lot of Japanese video
games Nintendo Sega Tekken looks like
[Music] Tekken so I mention that this place
is known for its night life apparently it’s
like a big red light district too my adult
entertainment good place to bring my parents
yeah sometimes we see it like a girly bar
and I think that’s the kind of thing that
you’re talking about Gentleman’s Club yeah wow
though I’m in love with this place yeah that’s
definitely some red light kind of stuff
so the only other time that we went to a
place that kind of looked like this was in Tai
taiwwan but in Tokyo it’s just so much bigger
plus there’s many different neighborhoods
that are kind of like this although this
is probably the most impressive one we’ve
seen so far for the for the lights [Music]
so I’m guessing that during the day cars come
through here and then maybe at night it’s just
a walking Street it is a weekend though
so I don’t know if it they only open it
on the weekends Friday night I’m not sure it’s
a Saturday today oh my God even more let there
be light ever been anywhere like this before
M isn’t it I don’t even think Vegas was like
this was it no it’s a different atmosphere
different real here more real yeah Vegas for
some reason seems kind of fake whenever we go
there they do have the lights and stuff there
but nothing like this for some reason there’s a
crowd of people here I don’t know what’s going
on they all seem to be staring at the restaurant
[Music] doing a show or [Music]
[Music] something what is it a
food dance yeah L old I don’t know
[Music]
so I think we’re going to go to the other
bar area now we’re kind of hungry and we
might have to queue up for a while I’m
guessing we’re going to have to with the
amount of people that are around here
very close though so all these places
are just walking distance from each other
smoke coming out of there is it from this
building wow look
at the robot show wonder what that is look
at this part too like a cave the entrance
yeah yeah these Alleyways look a bit more
shady Tokyo at night is definitely Wild
[Music] [Applause]
I haven’t seen that many casinos though
I don’t know if they have casinos around
here kind of looks like the kind of area
that would have casinos not sure if that’s
even legal in Japan this one’s way more
laidback isn’t it yeah better isn’t it
if you want to read probably it’ be easier
to get a place so this one is called Golden
guy I’m not sure why it’s empty maybe it’s more at
night I thought it was going to be the same as the
first street that we went
down and yeah doesn’t she
like yeah so we just need to find
a place that has space for four
people some of them really do only fit in
three or four and then it’s packed [Music]
so that didn’t go to plan the majority of
the places were just B and we were looking
for food and the ones that had food were all
busy we did find one that was empty but then
she said oh if another group comes uh can
we give them your seats so I wasn’t going
to eat there and then leave while I’m eating
so yeah that wasn’t an option it was a really
cool place though but I’m guessing since it
was a bar area that’s why it’s not busy still
kind of early I think it’s around 7:00 p.m. so
we’ll find food somewhere else I mean there’s
loads of food options here I just wanted to
eat one of those cool little ones that’s all
so luckily we didn’t have to walk too far to
find a cool little place I didn’t mention in
the other videos but you definitely need
Google Translate in Japan and then you can
just like take a picture and it will translate
everything been using this all the time one yes
and two hot and sour soup
two hot and sour soup we show
you so it turns out that this place is mainly
Chinese food they still have some Japanese
food though but I think my dish that’s coming
is Chinese but me and my dad got saporo beer
that’s Japanese beer really good beer probably get
another one after this got some Ed momy here and
Mom gotas what is coconut drink oh yeah coconut
like coconut milk instead of the coconut water
and the gu’s got the menus on the wall $450 so
pretty nice price and I’ll show you the other
food soon they have some interesting things here
I don’t know if that’s Jin s some sort of berries
is that that GOI Berry thing maybe some sort of
healthy drink I guess so I went for this noodle
soup with pork ribs not exactly sure how much
it is I forgot to check I think it’s around
800 900 car this fish yeah fish and sweet and
silver sauce also looks nice and what’s yours
dad spicy chicken is it spicy no it’s just nice
nice amount yeah yeah I think that’s cars there
900 I think overall we’ve been surprised by the
price of food in Japan a lot cheaper than we
expect yeah I thought it was going to be super
expensive people always talk about Japan being
crazy expensive yeah only the accommodations
have been very expensive but the food not not
at all and the accommodation is more because
we’re in cherry blossom season yeah so I’m not
really seeing Japan as super expensive a lot of
the places that we go the attractions are free
so my food is seriously good might actually
be the best dish that I’ve had in Japan so
far extremely tasty the meat what did you end
up getting fried pork with rice and it’s nice
it’s good is that onions yeah oh loads of onions
loads of it it’s [Music] nice thank you byebye
so we’re heading back to Golden guy now cuz
we want to get some more drinks wanted to go
to some of those bars too I think it should
be easier to get a seat now I hope so only
for drinks yeah and from what I read uh
those types of bars that are very famous
here around this area are called hakaya hakaya
the little Alleyway ones yeah I think it’s just
like the bars where people go to socialize
and they are tiny I think that’s what it
Isa that nice little wway out in the middle
of the city like a nature walkway all right
mission to find a cool bar I think some of
them are already busy yeah no room for four
in there this one looks nice yeah also
full though it’s a bit more movement now
yeah cuz it’s getting late yeah I think I
think later on at like 11 and 12 probably
be even busier I think right now it’s still 8:30
snake saki snake saki second floor that one the
the bars look really cool look at this one yeah
look at this one man and these two guys were in
the restaurant with us just now oh yeah same
guys same plan that we had round two alcohol
yeah literally everywhere it’s jam packed even
the bars I wonder if people make reservations
oh this one’s kind of empty you want to go here
though is there a reason a dodgy bar there’s no
beer it’s all whiskies and things another
one four here is yeah you want to go in
here four okay I’ll have the plum wine plum
wine with like to drink with like The Rock
soda with water uh can be on the Rock these
other ones this one is from Rice this one is
made of sweet potatoes the rice one rice rice
one so all our drinks were 900 dad just went
for the sephor again looks like seven up it’s
like a rise something right have you tried it
yeah it’s kind of it smells flowery but it’s
nice yeah I could have done mine with soda
as well what did you get with yours sh I don’t
know if I pronounce it correctly but it’s the
Japanese famous hard liquor mine is the base
of it is sweet potato sweet potato yeah that’s
interesting yeah but also with soda and it’s not
that strong really because of the soda like just
like your mom said really good I like it I’ve had
the plum wine before decent he will still be fine
I think he is I think I really like it hor when
you ask it to do not good too sweet I like really
cool looking bar though I could drink him bars
like this every weekend all right we left that
bar we’re still looking for the karaoke one this
one is one kind of dead though nobody in there
so this is the one that we’re going for Jim Bean
by Champion Filipino flag so it has to be [Music]
[Music] good I tried so hard got so
far the air it doesn’t even matter
so all the alcohol here is 500 what did
you get this time saki yeah there’s not
much space in here cool spot though Lively
what are you going to sing carol Oasis the
[Music] classic and all the
we had to walk a winding CU
mayy you’re going to be the one that saves
me and after
all you’re my
[Music]
Wonder for
[Music]
so that’s going to be it for this video my camera
actually ended up dying it ran out of battery but
we ended up spending around 3 hours at that
karaoke place 3 hours of terrible singing it
was amazing but yeah really good night though
the night life in Tokyo just seems something
else never seen a place like that before and
I had heard before that the Japanese do like
their alcohol and yeah there was a lot of
wasted people we ended up having to leave
before 1200 cuz our metro line closed before 1200
so yeah a lot of people were heading there before
it closed a lot of zombies it was like like The
Walking Dead with drunk people there’s actually
a guy sat next to me like he looked like he
passed out I was shaking him to try and wake
him up and he wouldn’t wake up at all and then
these other Japanese guys were like it’s okay
you can leave him so like all right but yeah he
wasn’t waking up at all and we’ll probably end
up filming at night in some other places cuz I
think some of the other cities are also a bit
like Tokyo with the lights and the bars so yeah
probably in a future video we’ll film a similar
kind of thing so if you like this one just drop
a like as usual to support us subscribe see more
videos like this follow us on Instagram
and we’ll see you in the next one [Music]

  1. No casino or random gambling allowed in Japan, that's why they're addicted to Pachinko 🙂

  2. Great video again! Tokyo is just the max. The city is second to nothing, when it comes to the size, the density, the endless variety of bars, streetfood, markets, cafés, anything. And the entertainment….. I visit Tokyo frequently for business and I always get invited by the customers to go to the clubs. Insane. Your video makes me wanna go again, but I will only be there in 2 months in June.

    Enjoy! ❤

  3. well, I'm Japanese, but Kabukicho is a completely different world, even from a Japanese point of view. I bet 99% of Japanese have never experienced such fancy nightlife.

  4. Oh no! you guys walked right past the Robot Restaurant, that is a fixture of Tokyo nightlife, every tourist goes there, it’s the most tacky and insane show you’ve ever seen.

  5. I had to laugh when I saw the Philippine flag at the karaoke bar. The only country that delights in karaoke more than Japan is the Philippines.

  6. What a fun nightlife you and Carol sing great lol thank you for your great videos. I can see how the Japanese people stay so slender they walk everywhere! Looking forward to your next video your parents seem pretty laid-back and fun to be around.

  7. Tokyo looks very tacky to me. Not a place I would visit. Been to a couple of Asian cities, did not like any of them. People are very cold and mean looking.

  8. Congratulations to you guys for your new remarkable video today’s from Tokyo, Japan to shows these amazing places to meet some amazing people on the streets in Asia 2024❤❤❤

  9. That Filipino bar was shocking. Planning my second trip to Tokyo, although I've been to Piss Alley before, will definitely explore more next time. Thanks for this video.

  10. Another Awesome Adventure Chris & Carol Thank You 🙂❤👍Watching from NB Canada🙂Looking forward to the next Awesome Adventure🙂❤👍

  11. I had several Japanese customers. Going to a real karaoke bar was fun as the real winner was the person that was the worst. lol. Nothing like drunk Japanese guys (big time execs) to show you what it is really all about.

  12. Tokyo accommodations are on the high side price-wise, and almost always for small rooms.
When you go outside Tokyo it becomes way cheaper and rooms get bigger

  13. I heard somewhere that it is really difficult to go around the city without google maps or something like that, and I see you guys also needed a little help at some point

  14. Enjoy your parents and traveling with them around the world. I recently lost both of my parents and would give anything to be with them again

  15. I'm really enjoying Chris' parents being on this trip – I knew they would be nice from how Chris turned out, but they're even better than I expected! His mum's accent is such a cool mix of Brazilian and northern english!
