Japan, might be Your dream destination for 2024 and knowing the most up to date vital information, will help you better prepare and plan for your Japan trip! So, Let’s check out the latest Japan Changes and important updates to help you start planning your dream trip to Japan!
But Before we get into the video, please remember to like and consider subscribing. These videos take many hours to put together and your support will help the channel grow and help me keep on making more content. The way we enter Japan is Changing! Even FASTER ENTRY is coming and this will
Really be a game-changer for anyone with the Land of the Rising Sun on their bucket list! Right now, visitors entering Japan must go through multiple steps before obtaining entry permission. Once arriving, they need a photo of their face and their fingerprints taken and they present
Their passport to an official and make a customs declaration, either in person or electronically. But this is all set to change very soon! Haneda Airport is rolling out a futuristic new way to enter the country and it’s set to redefine your arrival experience. Imagine touching down and sailing smoothly through immigration and customs,
Thanks to the latest tech and a single Qr Code. New electronic stands designed to welcome you faster than ever before have been set up on a trial basis. This pilot Started on January 31, and I think it’s a sneak peek into the future of travel into Japan.
These new stands are equipped to scan your face, fingerprints, and passport, all in one go. Giving you more time to immerse in the beauty of Japan right from the moment you arrive. The service is being trialled at Haneda airport and is expected to be formally launched,
Potentially in April, with more of the stands being installed at other airports too. Let me know if you’ve used one of these! And if it really is another way Japan is living in the future? Climbing mount Fuji is Changing. In December I mentioned how climbing Mount fuji was set to change this
Coming season. And we finally have some updated information regarding what we might expect with these new rules when they go into effect. This is what you can expect starting this climbing season which runs from 1st of July – 10th September: Climbers will be required to pay a ¥2,000 fee. (This is in addition
To the existing voluntary ¥1,000 fee that climbers are encouraged to pay to support the upkeep of Mount Fuji) And the fee will be collected at the 5th station. The new fee aims to ease congestion and fund safety measures such as preventing bullet
Climbing which is the act of climbing over night without staying at a hut. And a shelter will be constructed, in case of an eruption of Mount Fuji, which is an active volcano. In addition the trail would be closed between 4 p.m. and
2 a.m. during the climbing season to those without prior hut reservations. Climbing would be limited to 4,000 per day to help manage the flow of climbers and tourists more effectively. So if you are a Tourist planning to climb Mount Fuji. You should be aware of these
Potential new fees and regulations, which could affect your planning and budgeting for the trip. My suggestion here is to organise a climb with a reputable guide or group to help you plan and mitigate any disappointments. The Japan Metrological agency has released its 2nd forecast of the dates
When they expect cherry blossoms will start to flower and reach full bloom. According to the forecast, the blossoms are expected to open earlier than their average schedule this year. With the first major cities predicted to see the blossoms being Fukuoka and Kochi on March 19, followed by Tokyo on March 20,
With best viewing in Tokyo expected between March 27 and April 4. Bare in mind that this is only the second report and that last year, the first reports were off by quite a few days, but by the sixth report they had managed to accurately predict the blooms, only being off by 2.1 days.
Big news for those of you who are dreaming of Living in Japan, or at least giving it a go! Japan is working to introduce a digital Nomad visa, allowing a six-month stay for individuals with an annual income of at least 10 million yen a year. That’s around $68,000.
This new visa targets those working remotely for clients or employers abroad and will require the individual to have private health insurance and does not offer residency rights. This new visa cannot be stacked and the individual must remain outside of the country for 6 months before reapplying.
Although no date for as been set for the introduction, the government is planning to launch the visa in 2024 and is currently seeking public feedback. The visa conditions differ from those of other countries, which reflects Japan’s cautious approach to immigration and health resources. However, some questions do remain. such as:
Could you return with a visitor 3 month visa in-between visits? and although early signs show that this new visa would apply to family members, this is yet to be clarified. Yes, six months seems short. However, this is a huge step for Japan,
A country that doesn’t easily change its immigration laws and I believe that this is a great first step forward for individuals who want to spend more time in Japan. And Who knows how this could develop further in the future! I’ll surely be letting you know once we have more
Information. So it certainly is worth turning on the notification button! New attractions are always opening in Japan. So here is a reminder of some of the newest attractions that have recently opened or coming to Tokyo or the surrounding area shortly, including a
Really interesting new experience that I’m really looking forward to trying out if I get the chance! Immersive Fort Tokyo is Set to open in March, 2024, in Odaiba, this is the world’s first immersive theme park and is taking over the old Venus Fort shopping
Mall and will feature interactive attractions inspired by London’s interactive theatre shows. Team Lab Borderless: The grand reopening of this digital museum in Azabudai Hills is scheduled for February 9, 2024. It promises a mix of new and old awesome exhibitions, including “Existence in Perception,” “Microcosmoses,” and “Bubble Universe”. I’ visited the original
Installation and I’ve already got my tickets for this new attraction, And I can’t wait! Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai: This Edo Tokyo-inspired shopping, entertainment, and bathhouse space in Toyosu has recently opened. It features traditional Edo-style materials in its construction and offers fresh seafood, a nine-floor sento hot spring, and a
Footbath garden with a 360-degree panoramic view of the waterfront. I’ll be visiting this soon too! You’ve probably seen one of Tokyo’s most Instagramable spots (The Tokyu Plaza omotesando’s mirriored entrance) but theres a new mirrored building in town! Tokyu Plaza Harajuku Harakado:
This is a sister building constructed opposite, and scheduled to open very soon in spring 2024, this new shopping mall in Harajuku will feature shopping and dining facilities, an art gallery, a magazine library, and a free space for digital creators. And what I’m most
Excited about is the fact that it will also feature a Sento public bath in its basement! Toritsu Meiji Park: This new park has recently opened next to the Japan National Stadium, with cafés and restaurants and several open spaces, such as a lawn area, a forest area, and areas inspired by the Shibuya River.
Live the day like a Fuedal lord experience: In Odawara, an easy day trip from Tokyo. You’ll be able to immerse yourself in the life of a feudal lord for a day. It’s a unique experience that includes dressing in traditional samurai Armor, participating in cultural activities, and dining on a multi-course meal.
I always encourage cultural experiences and in this one You’ll learn about the castle’s strategic importance, enjoy private musical performances, and stay overnight IN THE castle. Who’s in?! Odawara if you are listening! I’m interested! I always encourage you tourists planning your trips NOW to include destinations
That are less crowded due to the popularity of travel to Japan which is why you might want to check out my Less crowded Japan playlist which I’ll include in the card at the end of the video for further inspiration and ideas!

So they won’t stamp your passport? 100% electronic record? Interesting.
I already registered at Visit Japan Web
New visa sounds interesting, Japan needs to overhaul their immigration policy or population decline will destroy the economy…
Going to Japan in late May. I wonder if there will be any more changes… thanks for the updates
Digital Nomad Visa is an amazing development! This is going to be huge I suspect, especially for Tech people looking to work in Japan, coming over on a Nomad visa and looking for work.
The entry machine looks nice. What else will come? It will give you a Suica card and spit out your SIM card you ordered in advance. 😂
Mt Fuji overnight tour company recommendations?
These vids helped me so much in my 2023 trip. Unfortunately I can’t go back in 2024 but I’m thinking about going back in the fall of 2025.
Still love watching this videos to give me off the beat and path destination ideas and news updates
nathan i entered tokyo on 26/1/2024 i saw the machines they have lots
www! … it is still so silly ! (^_^) … why do you have hinomaru flag ?! … anyway, in 2024, Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo is finally reopened ! … (people dressing like bushi seem so silly to me!)
1:16 I've used those when arriving in London and it was soooooo easy and fast. Hope it becomes the norm everywhere.
Great video as always! 😊
Rather get old school stamp with human contact then dystopian camera check…. 😢
Japan is great , cant with to get there soon
Does it stamp it so you can get the duty free tax? I heard if theres no stamp, theres no discount on duty free.
Regarding Mt. Fuji, do you know if it will still be allowed to climb the mountain in one day? I mean for example starting early in the morning and being back down by the afternoon.
I don't want to stay overnight in a mountain hut unless it's absolutely necessary.
Thanks in advance, keep up the good videos
Living in the future…. hahaha, nope. Those kiosk/terminals are excellent, but I've used them in other counries for years. My three trips to Japan in the last five years have all averaged one hour plus to get through passport control. Typically because there's fifteen booths but only five operating. Strange considering the airports know exactly how many passagers are coming and when.
US customers get no roaming charges if they use Google Fi service. If you live in the US, I highly recommend it.
Ohhhhh, so it hasn't started yet. The new entry system
can you explain how these tickets work for the immersive experience
Thanks Nathan for the Tokyo Sakura blossom opening update. Great to know it's been brought forward 3 days to March 20th 👏 (heard it here first 🥇), putting my next upcoming Tokyo visit 13-22 on-track for Hanami viewing 🌸 Hopefully the warmer weather will see the Sakura opening be brought forward even further 👌. Japan is the playground of the World 🌎🚀
Your really on-top of things Ninja 🐒 there's a few things here for me
I love your updates! Very timely and accurate as well. Thank you.
The entry machines are pretty cool. LAX, in the U.S., had something almost exactly like this from at least 10yrs ago.
how well do these Haneda scanners do with up to date photo and passport picture?? i appearance has changed alot since my last passport pic…there are still some signs of common but its really night and day difference…mid april Narita, early may Narita but late april Haneda.
I couldn't get Japan Web to accept my passport . It keep tell me it wasn't bright enough so I gave up and just filled out the cards On my last attempt if there was any more light I'd need to be standing on the sun. That said did use the new passport and picture stations and they were faster, before we got to the human who reviewed forms. So I'd say there was a little bit of time saved. Totosu Senkyaku Banrai and Samurai Lord Experience are definitely experiences I'd consider doing.
That’s what they do in Singapore airport already 💋
6 trips to Japan since 2001 . Never had photo taken or fingerprinted , who was this happening to?
I really love your channel, thank you for your videos, please keep it up!!
Great. I go every 3 months and get tired of the hoops. 🎉
Thank you always for the updates
