Let’s plan a tour to Japan to see the cherry blossoms! Spring is the season of cherry blossoms in Japan. Beautiful pink flowers bloom all over the country, further enhancing the traditional scenery. Today, I will introduce you to how to plan a tour to Japan to see the cherry blossoms,
The “Japan Cherry Blossom Tour”. This channel provides useful information for traveling to Japan. Please subscribe to this channel. Hello everyone, I’m Jake, Japan Navigator. Have you ever wanted to visit Japan to see the cherry blossoms? Or have you already taken a cherry blossom trip to Japan and are looking to have a new
Cherry blossom travel experience? First of all, let me thank you for your interest in Japan. Let me start with the most important point, which is crucial to the whole trip. Even if it’s just before your trip, please keep flexibility in your itinerary.
This is because the period when cherry blossoms can be beautifully seen is very short and also very fluid. Let’s check the outline of planning the Japan Cherry Blossom Tour. Number one, research the cherry blossom forecast. Number two, decide when and where to visit. Number three, book your flights and hotels.
Number four, as the travel date approaches, check the latest information. And number five, adjust your itinerary as much as possible to match the cherry blossom season. Let’s look at the details in order. First, about the cherry blossom forecast. Around mid-January, the forecast for that year’s cherry blossom season is announced.
The forecast for 2024 has already been released and can be found on various websites. This chart is from the Japan Meteorological Corporation, and I’ve included the link in the description. You can also access it via the QR code displayed on the screen.
The forecast says that cherry blossoms in Tokyo will bloom around March 23, Fukuoka around March 21, and Sendai around April 8. If you plan before the forecast is announced, base your plans on the average blooming dates and adjust your itinerary later.
The average cherry blossom dates are March 24 for Tokyo, March 22 for Fukuoka, and April 8 for Sendai. Based on this forecast, decide on your travel destinations and dates. If you have a specific place you must visit, set your travel dates around the blooming period.
If your travel dates are fixed, choose a destination where the blossoms are expected to bloom during your trip. There are many places worth visiting in Japan, and you can enjoy cherry blossoms everywhere in the country. Once you’ve decided on your destination and dates, book your flights and hotels.
For flights, you might have airline miles with a specific carrier, or you can use services like Skyscanner to find cheaper tickets. I want to talk about booking hotels. When I book hotels in Japan, I first look at Marriott properties because I’m a Marriott premium status member.
I choose different grades depending on the location and purpose, sometimes staying at high-end hotels like The Ritz-Carlton or more casual ones like Fairfield. Similarly, many of you may have premium status with Hilton or Hyatt. In such cases, it’s good to look for hotels from your preferred brand.
In areas without such group chain hotels, or if you want to stay in a Japanese-style hotel, known as ryokan, use other sites. For casual hotels, Expedia, Agoda, Booking.com are some options. For small, high-end ryokans and hotels, Relux and Ikkyu are recommended. There are also other English-friendly sites like Jalan and Rakuten Travel.
My favorite hotels include The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka and Hakone Gora Kadan. I’ve introduced The Ritz-Carlton Fukuoka in this video, so please check it out. As your trip approaches, check the latest cherry blossom information. About two weeks before your trip, you can get fairly accurate information.
Check the Japan Meteorological Corporation website I mentioned earlier, or use the Sakura Navi app. This app not only provides the latest cherry blossom information but also suggests nearby cherry blossom spots. The link is in the description, and you can also access it via the QR code shown.
Finally, adjust your destinations and dates according to the latest information. The points I want to mention here are as follows: 1. As I mentioned first, it’s about having flexibility in your itinerary. 2. Japan is a country where it’s relatively easy to move around. 3.
Keep obtaining the latest cherry blossom blooming information during your trip. If the blossoms are blooming later than forecasted, move southward; if they’re blooming earlier, head northward. For example, if you planned to see cherry blossoms in Kyoto but they’re delayed, consider extending your trip to Okayama or Hiroshima.
Don’t worry, Japan isn’t very large and has an extensive Shinkansen network. If you’re using Shinkansen a lot, the Japan Rail Pass is convenient and economical. You can use it not only for Shinkansen but also for local JR trains. Check the details via the link in the description or the QR code displayed.
Also, I recommend preparing WI-FI or SIM for obtaining the latest cherry blossom information and internet access in Japan. Although WI-FI availability has increased in Tokyo, it’s still limited. It’s better to prepare your own WI-FI or SIM. There are many reliable providers, but Japan Wireless is recommended. They offer both POCKET WI-FI and eSIM.
Pocket WI-FI can be shared among several people and is easy and quick to pick up. Check the details via the link in the description or the QR code displayed. You can use the 10% discount code, “JWLILJAPAN”. For those who prefer SIM cards, Japan Wireless’s eSIM is convenient.
It’s quick, easy, and offers support in English. Check the details via the link in the description or the QR code displayed. The cherry blossom season is finally here. Enjoy planning your trip. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments, and I’ll support you as much as I can.
