We Took Japan’s Fastest Shinkansen From Tokyo to Osaka!

For our first ever bullet train ride, we decided to book the Nozomi Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka. This is Japan’s fastest bullet train line, and we had a blast experiencing it and reviewing it for you! Our first impressions of Japan’s fastest bullet trains is that the ride isn’t long enough! We almost regret booking the fastest shinkansen, because we would have loved to be on the bullet train for longer.

Our journey started at Tokyo Station, which is where the Tokyo Metro and Shinkansen lines meet, meaning it is a super busy station! We highly recommend going to the platform a bit early so you can head to the front of the bullet trains and really enjoy these manmade wonders before boarding. Given that this is our bullet train ride in Japan, we are sharing our first impressions and full seat tour with you as we embark on this very fast 500km journey to Osaka.

If you’re anything like us, you are strangely interested in what the washroom situation is like on trains. They are so varied around the world, and we were super interested to see what the bullet train washroom would be like given Japan’s washrooms are world class. Let’s just say, we were not disappointed!

If you are visiting Japan and are wondering how to book a bullet train ride in Japan, we’ve included information in this video to make sure you can easily book your bullet train ticket yourself. If you have trouble using the official JR website, you can always try Klook instead (which is a bit more foreigner friendly):

We’ve been on quite a few train rides during our travels, and this is definitely the cleanest and most on-time train that we have ever ridden. If you are traveling to Japan and plan to get the JR Pass to get around, you are in for a treat! The Shinkansen is such an efficient and pleasant experience. Not to mention, it feels like a proper Japanese travel experience all by itself! We think you will find our Shinkansen review video helpful in deciding whether train travel in Japan is right for you 🙂

======================

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we’d be making travel vlogs on YouTube, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.

  1. Hello from a new subscriber! I'm so glad your video was introduced to me on my home page! I really enjoyed your reactions, commentary, and cheerful attitudes throughout your video. I can't wait to watch more of your previous and future videos. I'm from the US, but live and work in Japan and it's always fun and refreshing to see Japan again from the perspective of people traveling here. Thanks again for sharing your travels with us! Cheers!

  2. You seem to have missed the view of Mt. Fuji from the train? On the way to Kyoto/Osaka you will get to see the view of Mt. Fuji after 40 minutes from Tokyo Station, and it will be visible for about 10 minutes.

  6. The train staff in the train actually did checked if you are sitting on your seat but they do it discreetly, they have this gadget that specifies which seats are supposed to be occupied by. But if you sat on the wrong seat they will asked for your ticket politely and will escort you to your correct seat. You missed the view of fujisan

  10. This nice couple did not take a Ekiben- station lunch or train lunch, it is very unfortunate.
In Japan there exist 3000 kinds of ekiben lunch of all over Japan.

  11. Each Shinkansen car is 25m long, so a 16-car train is 400m long, and the lead car is +2.35m x 2 = 404.7m.
    Have a nice trip.

  12. The Shinkansen you all rode on is the latest version of the Tokaido Shinkansen's N700 series, called the "Supreme" version.
The maximum speed between Tokyo and Osaka is 275 km/h (170.8 mph). The maximum speed between Osaka and Hakata is 300km/h (186.4mph).

  13. You must visit Nara,a great park with deer who are the tamest animals and love the crackers available there,an unusual fun experience ✌️❤️🇬🇧

  14. 8:27
The space just below the window that you guys called trick ledge is often used to put smaller items like plastic bottles, ice cream, etc.
The latest supreme model that you boarded has been redesigned to be a little wider to accommodate plastic bottles even with the window shades down.

  15. thanks for introducing SHINKANSEN in your program. It seems that you took a n700s type, and if you take other type like 700a, you would not have outlet on your arm rest. just an info. have fun travelling Japan and hopeful a lot of foreigners come to our country and enjoy!

  16. What in the world are you carrying on your backs? I can't find an ounce of cool. Just show the video, please. When a train arrives, please don't point at it and say there's a train. When another train arrives, you don't say look another train. We don't know that? We don't watch the videos just to see your faces talking constantly. I'm sure everyone on the train just loved you guys talking constantly. Just 100% not cool at all. You're welcome.

  17. Suica card can use anywhere bullet train, normal train ,bus , taxi, convenience store, drink bendor machine, restaurant and some supermarket accepting also now… Next time try the Bullet train from Tokyo to Aomori Ken down Hokkaido ( HAYABUSA BULLET TRAIN) for fastest now in Japan. And if you have some company friends you can turn your seat so you guys can front to each other like in dinning table + when you ride in normal train is little bit cheaper than the normal amount…Well hope you enjoy your trip here in Japan and be safe guys!! Kampai 🥂

  18. That’s a first, I have never seen a male cart server on Shinkansen, I ride it a lot too. Too bad cart service has suspended as of nov 😭 on Tokaido line.

  19. On public transport, it's okay to have a conversation at a normal volume, as long as you don't make too much noise.

  20. you should not encourage people to take oversized luggage on the train without knowing or quoting the rules, be a good vlogger and share the correct information and follow the rules, they are in place for everyone's comfort and safety.

  21. There is some chatter about the ending of food carts on the bullet trains, It is nice to see that for now you still can.

  22. 車内販売、ロボットに置き換わると思ってたけど廃止なんですね。🤖🤖🤖ww

  23. 11:01
On the Tokaido Shinkansen, the wagon service for on-board sales has been discontinued.
Therefore, you must purchase food and drinks before boarding.
On-board sales still exists on other Shinkansen trains.

  24. 600,000 persons use the station per a day! Shinjuku is the station more than 750,000 use. And one Shinkansen capacity btw Tokyo and Osaka is more than 1,300.

  25. Try it bro, you can ride the highest speed train for the first time in Southeast Asia. The highest speed is 350 kilometers per hour, the Indonesian fast train Jakarta – Bandung, the newest, most sophisticated in Southeast Asia, the first,… the way to the beautiful and comfortable and beautiful and cool and cool city of Bandung, thank you sis and bro
