Sunshine Aquarium occupies the top three floors of Ikebukuro’s Sunshine City office and shopping complex. It has around 70 tanks with 23,000 creatures representing 550 species. Exhibits include the Sunshine Lagoon, a tank that holds 240 tons of water; the Kurage Kukan jellyfish area created in 2020; and the Sunshine Aqua Ring for views of sea lions, penguins, and other animals from below.
Animals big and small can be seen, from large tiger sharks and sunfish to tiny sea angels. Non-marine animals like iguanas are also viewable. Sunshine Aquarium has a variety of animal training and feeding programs in addition to a cafe and gift shop.
