Japan Travel Guide: Get Lost in Setouchi

Kobe, Osaka, Hiroshima, Miyajima: Setouchi is home to some of Japan’s most famous destinations but there is so much more to see that I never expected. I spent 2 weeks exploring the islands, the sea, the mountains, the valleys, the small towns, the gorges and the gardens and more in this naturally stunning location. Despite having some of Japan’s most magnificent nature, there is so much depth in Japanese tradition and ancient culture.
Japan’s Inland Sea is the star here, and the region includes the surrounding coastline and hundreds of islands throughout it. You can expect beaches, boat rides, citrus fruits, fresh seafood, world famous bridges and even soaring mountains. And you cannot forget the food! Sake comes from Setouchi, as well as Udon, Kobe beef and Fugu (blowfish).
Whether you explore by boat, seaplane, bike, car or on foot, there’s so much to learn about Japan and its culture from this unique region.
