Hersheypark’s Newest Reimagined Coaster – Jolly Rancher Remix – Blue Raspberry Offride View

Hersheypark takes great care of their rides and their newest creation, Jolly Rancher Remix, is an excellent example of it. Opening as Sidewinder in 1991, this off-the-shelf coaster called a Boomerang coaster by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma is found in many parks around the World. They are known for their intense ride experiences and unique layout.
In 2011 Hersheypark replaced the US-designed Arrow Dynamics train with a more comfortable train with vest-style restraints to eliminate headbanging during the ride, which greatly improved it. A couple of years later the coaster’s hydroulic braking system was replaced with a smoother magnetic braking system, which further improved the coaster’s experience for it’s riders making it one of the best coasters of it’s modelline in the World.
It late Summer 2021 Sidewinder closed and started being repainted to a new series of brighter colors with discussion on it being re-themed to a new candy-related theme starting to circle on Social Media.
New for Summer 2022, Jolly Rancher Remix, themed to the Jolly Rancher hard candy, takes you on a ride with several different soundtracks, concert-style lighting and scent effects themed to several different flavors. I’m going to do several videos over the Summer; one for each experience. The first one is Blue Raspberry.
Having ridden it quite a bit from when it was Sidewinder and comparing it to now, the park has put a lot of care and TLC into this coaster over the years from adding new trains, a new control system, magnetic brakes, and finally a complete renovation, I must say that it was all worth it. Hersheypark really mastered the Vekoma Boomerang model and made it the best in the World! I am seriously going to be re-riding this a lot over the Summer!

  1. This has to be one of the worst names for a coaster in the world….It sounds like a mountain dew flavor. This new move toward naming the rides after their candy sucks and please stop doing it

  2. I think blue raspberry is the only one with the real heavy bass going through the tunnel. I absolutely love that bass through the tunnel
