The way they look at the world and the value systems for Taiwanese are generally more similar to those of westerners than those of Chinese but many Taiwanese run a business or factories in China mainly because many of them are afraid of speaking English with westerners and they think it's much easier for them to communicate with the local people in China. If they travel to western countries they tend to join a tour group so that the tour guide can make the itinerary and arrange everything for them. With more and more people having the abilities to speak English in Taiwan recently some people prefer to travel abroad by themselves or go backpack and by doing so they've got more opportunities to communicate with local people abroad.
For many experts Taiwan is considered the cradleland of Austronesian people who spread across the pacific from Taiwan to Maori in New Zealand.

I really enjoy this kind of video about interviewing foreigners in Taiwan. Makes local people see their country in different perspectives. Especially for shy and low self-confident people of asian culture, this gives us more confidence and awareness of our own country value.
