JR East’s SL Banetsu Monogatari (C57-180) does a 222km round trip most Saturday’s, Sunday’s and Holidays throughout the year except winter.
It is based and starts it regular journeys from Niitsu (Niigata City, Niigata Pref) along the very scenic Banetsu West Line, to the Fukushima Prefecture castle town of Aizu Wakamatsu.
