After a scenic 3-hour drive from Mount Fuji, we reached our destination – Hotel InterContinental Pier 8. This 5-star gem, opened in 2019, is located on an operational pier with unique shops.
The hotel’s entrance design might seem humble from the outside, but it’s truly amazing inside, especially the signature staircase with beautiful lighting leading to the reception upstairs. We had a smooth and speedy check-in, although there was a brief wait.
Our room, 320, was a bit of a walk from the elevator. There’s a shortcut through a beautiful Japanese-style garden, though it may not be ideal with a stroller or in rainy weather. But when we entered the room, it was truly amazing. The kind Pier 8 staff had prepared a lovely decoration for us.
Starting from the entrance, the room was spacious and full of thoughtful details. The open wardrobe had everything we needed, including bathrobes, an umbrella, and even kids’ slippers.
The bathroom was another highlight. The huge mirror with gorgeous lighting was top-notch, and the amenities provided were premium.
The shower room, located in the middle of the room, featured a sleek design with a high ceiling. A cool feature was the electric window blind, ensuring privacy.
You haven’t seen the toilet because it’s separate. There’s also a small handwashing sink and an automatic Toto washlet.
The living area was spacious and impressive for a classic room. The room even had a mini-bar that our young traveler, Leon, helped us unbox.
