Street Food at Kyoto’s Famous Arashiyama

Arashiyama is one of my favorite areas in Kyoto. It has everything. Beautiful views, temples, street food and shopping. I’m trying out some colorful Dango and raindrop cakes I found on my walk.

  1. I went there last month. I was not prepared for how strenuous the climb to the monkey park would be in the height of summer! Definitely need the cooling food and drink.

  2. I love raindrop cake. I got one from Bokksu and have dreams of trying it again someday. It's a simple and lite dessert but packs a punch of flavor from the black sugar syrup and soybean powder.

  3. Thank you for this video! It really took me back to when I visited in 2016. Such great memories of a beautiful place. If you have the opportunity, I’d recommend visiting the Daihikaku Senkōji Temple. It’s a bit of a hike, but absolutely stunning views, especially when the leaves begin to change! 😊

  4. Arashiyama is so picturesque! And, all the foods were cool and appealing. Thank you for the video stroll, Shinichi! I'm glad you had such light and refreshing snacks and lots of liquid in that heat. 💙

  5. Our shaved ice is not as nice. It’s just frozen ice with sugary flavor squirted on. Yours looks much yummier. Glad to have you back.

  6. What a beautiful place, and the food looked delicious! 🤤
It's been awhile since we've seen your friend/partner, I hope everything is okay. Peace.
    🙏

  7. I tried to get into the rain drop type jelly but I didn’t like the texture. Idk maybe it is because it was from a subscription box and not fresh. I will try it if I ever go to Japan.

  8. Thanks everyone for letting me take a break. As you can see, I’m back to posting videos here.

I also wanted to say thank you for supporting me here even though I hadn’t been posting for awhile.

I hope you guys had a great summer. Japan was hot hot hot!!!

  9. What a lovely day you had in Kyoto! Japanese traditional sweets are always so interesting to me, I feel they're so delicate, almost magical. Thank you for taking us with you, and welcome back!
