Journey to JAPAN – How I Got to Live Abroad

1 year ago I was sent on a business trip to Japan for a few months. Here’s my story.

This was the greatest trip of my entire life.

I go over everything from why I wanted to go to Japan in the first place, what I did to set myself up for this goal, and the experience of living in Japan as someone who has never left America. It’s a long story and you can find timestamps to each part down below!

  1. It's been so gratifying to see your growth into a high-value male, pardon the misogyny-leaden expression. You play instruments, study STEM, learn languages, practice animation and cuisine, and likely other things that people only dream of. You're an inspiration to young adults in your position.

  2. I seriously love this style of video
I know we can't just get more of it due to its nature but in general seeing Shuck talk about his life is really relaxing

  3. Awesome.
One question though: did you think about going to Jojo Bar DIO? Or if you did go to it are you saving it for your second channel?
Also how does this video have less than 500 views after 2+ hrs when you have 250k+ subs?

  4. It’s really great hearing about your journey. Especially being in similar ish positions. Hopefully one day I will make it too!

  5. Aha, a fellow Abroad in Japan viewer! I could tell as soon as i heard the Journey across Japan song 😆 Glad you had a good time out there.

  6. Incredible, touching, and inspirational video. One full of hopes and dreams coming to fruition.
Surprisingly I personally relate to many of the things in terms of the love and desire for Japan. Though I have not yet personally traveled there yet, seeing your passion and dedication to the going and experience the country is reminiscent of my own and honestly heart warming to see.

Getting to hear about your experience and how it personally impacted you is inspiring and pushes me more towards one day getting to experience it myself.

I’m very happy to see and hear about everything, thank you so much for sharing and I hope things continue to go well for you and hopefully travel back in the future! Again, amazing video, I love your channel and you as well, Shuck! どうもありがとうございます

  7. Haha, of course your work sent you directly to live in Duwang City. Amazing.

Anyway, my one year as an exchange student in Kagoshima was definitely the best part of my life and it always feels great to see people talk about how their experiences were so similar to mine. There were some key differences: I went there as an experienced translator so no language barrier struggles, and I can't cook, so I ate out every day (and still lost weight too), but overall, it feels like we shared the same dream.

The one part I had a completely opposite opinion to yours is about religion. Especially with Shintoism, I finally felt like people genuinely had their faiths as part of their everyday lives instead of just attending a standardized ceremony everyone participates on autopilot before going back to what they normally do. Instead of being something intrusive and passive like the worship of the 4 religions I experimented with in Brazil, Shinto shrines are everywhere and always open and sanpai is a solo active work on the worshipper's part. It's only your own will to connect with something greater that drives your religious experience.

  8. I absolutely loved this video! My dream since always has been going to Japan just like yours and seeing how you've fulfilled it and hearing all your experiences made me more eager to try even harder to accomplish it. Thank you for this! It's nice to have something to remind you that hard work eventually pays off. I hope you get back there sooner rather than later!

  9. This was a beautiful video. I loved how detailed the video was and how structured it was. The ending with the connections of Catholicism and Japan’s decaying society is something most would never say, but that makes sense. Looking forward to future videos as always!

  10. I didn't expect this video to be this emotional. I'm Happy that you achieved your dream my friend and i hope you find your special lady.

  11. Today is my birthday and i got my first jojo SAS figures being DIO (part 3 ) and Joseph (part 2), and they are nothing like my other figures and i love them. Today has been amazing.
