Miyajidake Shrine aka: “The Path of Light” and why it is a must visit while you’re in Kyushu!

Miyajidake Shrine is for the most part dedicated to Okinagatarashi Hime no Mikoto (another name for the Empress Jingu) the shrine attracts over 2 million people, and worshippers a year, who pray for commercial success, and good luck, and to ward off evil spirits.
A long, straight road leads directly from the entrance of the shrine to the sea. Twice a year—for several days in late February and again in late October—the sun sets in perfect alignment with the road, creating a shining golden path to the sea.
