  1. I watch every post Chris love your content! Also 127th day learning Japanese… because you inspired me. Keep it up!

  2. Hey Chris its a dairy brand called The Collective from New Zealand really good stuff actually! The Suckies are just a sub brand of it!

  3. This is actually fantastic I'll be definitely picking these up I did purchase all of the Tim Hortons merchandise when it released in Canada.

  4. I've been studying Japanese for a few years. And used some tutors on iTalki.
Genki I is great to lay a foundation for basic grammar and vocabulary. It has all the explanations in English. In Genki II it cuts back the explanations in English.
I also have Minna no Nihongo Beginner 2, Minna no Nihongo Intermidiate 1, and Tobira.
If you have some understanding I think the Minna no Nihongo is a little more challenging and force you to understand written Japanese a little quicker. Toriba is a bit challenging and should not be used right away.
Also you want to keep in mind your goal. Since I learned mainly from the textbook my Japanese while broken is pretty polite. One of Japanese friends teased me that my Japanese sounded feminine because how polite I sounded. Also like English written Japanese is different than spoken Japanese. Even though I know a bit of grammar I don't use most of it when I'm in Japan. Also textbooks teach a lot of keigo that you might not really need to know unless you are planning on working in Japan. I am probably best at reading Japanese, then writing and then speaking.
I think if you want speak Japanese more fluently make some friends that speak Japanese and speak it as much as possible. Finding a language exchange partner on HelloTalk is easy, just don't be a creep.

  5. I will admit I didn't watch "What it's like to own a traditional Japanese Inn" video that Chris made, mostly because the subject matter just didn't appeal to me. I would say most of the Abroad in Japan videos really pull me in and even some that I am not too interested still end up being very entertaining, but once in a while there are a few videos that just don't attract me. I think it's extremely hard to guess what the fanbase will like without an endless cycle of repeating the same content (looking at you Connor *crane games*) but I still applaud Chris for making content that is interesting to him. I think what really captivates a lot of us is Chris's persona and storytelling and experiences with guests, but some of the more tourism and showcasing videos might appeal to a more specific group of the fans. Best of luck, and really enjoy the video podcasts!

  6. here is my feedback from a long time watcher on the Japanese Inn video. Really simple, the title was just not of interest.

  7. It's truly strange hearing my story/experience on a podcast. 😂 My apologies for trying to write out an accent… I probably should have realized that writing in an accent when somebody would then have to read it out was a bad idea. I hope you guys enjoyed the story.

Oh, about the Ouji music lounge.. it was indeed a strange experience, but I had rented a private room and the room was clean in the staff was all nice. Going to my room however was very weird because you kind of walkthrough hallway after strange colored hallway and the first time I walked back to my room I worried I was about to pop on some I shouldn't have gone into. LOL the food and coffee in the cafe below were great. I'm not sure what the hostel sleeping arrangements would be like though. I enjoyed my stay and how it only took about 10 minutes by train to get to Shinjuku. 👍 Oh, and a little Park was pretty nice.

  8. Sugamo in greek sounds like f you… Every time we heard the station name while rigind the train, we would laugh

  9. That plane story is completely normal at busy airports. Don’t worry, the pilots aren’t blind and the air traffic controllers know what they’re doing. If something goes wrong the pilots will go full throttle and raise the nose to go around and try again.

  10. Greetings from Athens! I hope you have some proper vacation when you visit Greece again.

  11. Anyone else feelin the audio from them is overly quite? I watch on my side monitor and play games and I often have to turn down my game down by like 30% to hear them consistently. Don't really have problems with any other videos.

  12. 4:40 For me I know when my video has failed after 3-4 days because day 1 has the normal peak and then slow decline of viewers but on day 2-3 Youtube may start putting the video in peoples home feed so views may skyrocket around then.

  13. Also learning Japanese, can recommend Genki though I don’t understand it as I had to skip 1st year as they stopped that part of the course

  14. This is the worst format of a podcast you could come up with. A long form needlessly cut into 30 minute chunks. It has no start and no end. Is there a playlist with a coherent full episode?

  15. Can't wait to see you two in Japan together walking around Tokyo doing the pod and Pete vs Pete crane game challenge awesome show guys!

  16. Are they normally both in the same room? All these years of listening to the pod, I always imagined they were… just doing an online call?

  17. There would be no news report of a plane being on the runway. The pilots would have also seen the runway, as would have the tower at Heathrow (traffic control). A planned go around procedure is pretty normal but you only instigate such a procedure once you reach a certain threshold. Unless the pilots randomly became "nihilistic" on the final minute of the flight, nothing bad would have happened. What most likely would happen though, if there was a breach of procedure, is there would be an incident report filed to the AAIB.

  18. Fun Fact – the landing slots are so tight they only do a go around if the absolutely have to, so the pilot would have waited until the last safe time to abort the landing. The other plane and possibly the airport would have been fined but other than that it is standard business
