Shizuoka is a prefecture, and the city of Shizuoka is its capital. The city of Shizuoka is approximately 40-50 kilometers (about 25-30 miles) away from Mount Fuji, depending on which part of the city you start from. The distance by road might be longer, depending on the route taken. If traveling by train, the Tokaido Shinkansen line connects Shizuoka with Shin-Fuji station, which is near Mount Fuji, and the journey takes roughly an hour or less.
