FILIPINO STREET FOOD: IS THIS MANILA’S BEST CARINDERIA?

There is no shortage of Filipino street food and some of the best can always be found in carinderia’s. I may have stumbled upon a real gem at R&J Bulalohan. I have visited numerous carinderia’s throughout the Philippines and R&J ranks tright up there with the best I have found. With food to die for and staff that goes above and beyond this is one joint not to be missed. Pay them a visit for some of their mouth watering dishes next time your in Manila.

  1. Hey everybody, What are you thinking of the new format of shorter videos and less food? Also, I am going to be in the Manila area for a bit longer and I love Carinderia food. What are some of your favourite Carinderia's in the Manila area that you would like to see featured?

  2. Bulalo – you might say, has a "clean taste". Or perhaps, a " pure" taste, because one know immediately it's beef and boiled vegetables.

  3. Cheers! I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes as well! and I don't mind tomato sauce and the likes as well! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  4. it occurred to me later that my personal definition of a carinderia = turo-turo, small place and cheap. i don't know if i'd count a 500-pax place with a P650 dish as one…

  5. Not a fan of the purple nasty but everything else is delicious, at least where I have had it 😊

  6. How about trying Ambos Mundos restaurant in Florentino Torres Street in Santa Cruz, Manila. It has been around since 1888 and features food popular among Filipinos back in the day. Needless to say it offers Spanish, Filipino and Chinese cuisine hybridized to suit the Pinoy palate. There is another iconic establishment in that area named Delicious restaurant which has been operating since 1930. Used tto go there with my grandpa back in the early 70's. My suggestion is go fo the machang, makimi, kikiam and pansit guisado in Delicious, then try the spanish food in Ambos Mundos.

  7. So classic….RJ's Bulalo was our go to for our midnight snacks back in the 2010. The price then was so affordable and serving was really big. Memories…

  8. kamayan salad, its your basic filipino side dish paired with either fried or grilled meat or seafood. always present at budol fights.

  9. thats what i personally called true pinoy caldereta, 2 most important ingredients to true caldereta is liver spread and peanut butter

  10. My mom puts peanut butter or liver spread on her caldereta to thicken the gravy and neutralize the acidity of the tomato sauce. Hence the peanuty taste. I prefer putting peanut butter on my caldereta over liver spread.

  11. Wow Very nice πŸ‘ πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒβœŒοΈ Happy Eating πŸ˜‚

  12. That's a legendary eatery, lots of Pinoy famous celebrities, basketball players go their after game or movie shootings, legit!
