Reports say that due to the excessive amount of visitors, parts of the hike that usually take around 2 hours can now take up to 4 hours! There have also been more hikers without proper gear or preparation which caused a spike in emergencies and rescues.
3The local governments are discussing stricter
regulations for next year. There are talks of charging
up to 10,000% for climbing Mt Fuji, or maybe limit entrance only to people that has a reservation for the
overnight huts. The possible measures so far have overwhelming support from the locals.
Another possible measure would be to limit the
access by road.
