  1. i budgeted 90 minutes for kumamoto castle, finished it in 20 minutes. i budgeted 90 minutes for nagoya castle, finished it in 30 minutes. i was expecting non-museumy spaces inside these castles, but nagoya wasn't even explorable, only the first floor multi-room thing (unless i missed the entrance for the main event?). castles are cool from the outside but not really from the inside.

  2. If I remember correctly I actually know a little about that lake, it was once a fresh water lake not connected, but at some point it became connected to the Ocean and that why it is still called a lake.

  3. I love Yuru Camp!
They did an episode where they stayed in Hamamatsu and ate unagi there.
    It's Hamamatsu's kyōdo-ryōri (郷土料理)!

  4. Been watching Yuru Camp and Super Cub. Haven’t been camping in years and I’m afraid to ride in the states.

  5. Eric, that pointing thing by the train conductor that you find funny? …you must have heard of shisa kanko , the method from ergonomics that has been statistically proven to work, reduces mistakes and therefore improves safety, which is obviously particularly important for things like public transport. It's not for show (I use something like it when I'm trying to do something repetitive that has several steps & I want to make sure I'm not forgetting something)
Kyde, from Yuru Camp I knew that Hanamako was famous for its unagi, but you didn't seem to be all that impressed by the quality of that restaurant's version…? Those japanese giant centipedes deliver nasty bites, lucky you caught sight of that one on time (damm, I would have made it pay for being unpolite… 👞)

  6. "People in this area are super friendly." Wait! So there are people in Japan who are not friendly?😂

  7. I love unagi, I ordered it by mistake and only realized what it was when I was halfway done. I don't know what I thought it was but it didn't taste like fish at all. I had intended to order unagi while in Japan so it was on the list of things I wanted to try, it was only unexpected as I picked a menu item from a smallish photo. It was really good, I liked it a lot. I know it's difficult to get past a psychological barrier of it being from a weird type of fish, but it really is delicious. I didn't even register that it was fish until I did the math and realized what it was so it's not a "fishy" taste at all.

  8. Any centipede that is larger than a centimetre and a half is some sort of freakish refugee from the carboniferous when insects ruled and meter long dragonflies darted among the trees.

  9. Too funny, my wife and I visited that same Michi no Eki in 清里町 Hokkaido that is dubbed Papas Land and is indeed surrounded by potato plants. We opted not to buy the potato shochu.

  10. i'm with kyde. castles and temples man. all rebuilt pffff. i do like old temples though.

  11. Thanks for another fun video tour. First of all, Kyde gave me a big laugh with the unfastened belt moment. I mean a big out-loud laugh (because I can relate). Second, the centipede experience. I don't mind snakes or most insects, but if for some reason a spider decides to climb onto me, you will hear the most primal scream. I can't help it, the scream will happen, and the spider will be smashed or flung away with much vigor. Probably some stamping of feet, which I call skitter toes. It was very nice to laugh today. Thank you, Kyde & Eric.

  12. I know about the 100% beef thing is! It's if they put breadcrumbs and stuff like that in/on it.

    It's definitely for lady time.

P stands for Penis! It's for the gay side of the spectrum obviously.

  13. There's a lot of great things about Japan. But those low tables/sitting basically on the floor is not one of them. I don't want to be that close to anybody's feet when I'm eating. Not even my own feet! Plus, wow, that looks uncomfortable even if you're not as tall as Eric. I have a bad back and sitting that way would be torment. I can't imagine how difficult that would be for elderly people.

  14. 11:30 Unagi is so delicious! My girlfriend and I both love it! Granted, it's some of the most expensive things we eat when in Japan, but it's so totally wort it! (Except the one time in November 2022 when they served us frozen unagi warmed-up with a microwave oven in a seafood restaurant in Shikoku. Not cool!)
