Best Coffee Shops to Visit During TIFF | Fall 2023 | Toronto, Canada

Here are some of the best cafes that are near the venues of the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023:

French Made Café at the Bisha Hotel
80 Blue Jays Way (Nearest Intersection: King & Peter)
Located in the Bisha Hotel on Blue Jays Way, French Made is a sleek and stylish coffee shop with a relatively spacious patio. This is the best place to relax outside while discussing films and sipping on Sloane’s premium specialty tea.

Mofer Coffee
224 Wellington Street West (Nearest Intersection: John & Wellington)
The coffee at Mofer Coffee originates from Ethiopia, the birthplace of the Arabica coffee plant. In addition to their delicious coffee, this cafe offers interesting drinks like the moringa latte and the butterfly pea latte. This clean and cute cafe is the perfect place for writing your film reviews or having one-on-one meetings while consuming fresh air-roasted Ethiopian coffee.

Daily Dose Coffee Bar
125 John Street (Nearest Intersection: John & Richmond)
This super small and cozy cafe is located at the basement level of the property on 125 John Street. Some of the drinks that I would recommend from this place include Iced Matcha Coconut Latte and Rose London Fog. This spot is ultimately one of the best places to get matcha drinks in the city of Toronto: its premium matcha is directly sourced from the seaside city of Kagoshima, and the quality of its drinks has consistently been high for me.

Mizzica
307 Queen Street West (Nearest Intersection: Queen & Richmond)
Although this spot is more known for its incredibly decadent gelato, Mizzica actually offers a variety of caffeinated drinks as well. Out of all the cafes listed in this post, Mizzica is the only place nearby that is open during the evenings: it closes at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and it closes at 11:00PM from Sunday to Thursday. This is the best place to have conversations about films at while drinking authentic Italian coffee as the sun sets.

Ricarda’s
134 Peter Street (Nearest Intersection: Peter & Richmond)
Ricarda’s is a big hospitality venue that consists of a restaurant, a cafe, and an event hall. Ricarda’s Cafe will ultimately be on the right side of the building. The atmosphere is airy, and the service here has consistently been excellent for me. This coffee joint, however, is only open on weekdays from 8:00AM to 3:15PM. If you are planning to attend an early screening at Scotiabank Theatre on a weekday, I would highly recommend you to stop by Ricarda’s Cafe to fuel yourself before the film starts.
