Shinjuku Station (新宿駅, Shinjuku-eki) is a major railway station in the Shinjuku and Shibuya wards in Tokyo, Japan. In Shinjuku, it is part of the Nishi-Shinjuku and Shinjuku districts. In Shibuya, it is located in the Yoyogi and Sendagaya districts.
Serving as the main connecting hub for rail traffic between Tokyo’s special wards and Western Tokyo on the inter-city rail, commuter rail, and subway lines, the station was used by an average of 3.59 million people per day in 2018, making it, by far, the world’s busiest transport hub (and registered as such with Guinness World Records).[1] The main JR station and the directly adjacent private railways have a total of 35 platforms, including an underground arcade, above-ground arcade and numerous hallways with another 17 platforms (53 total) that can be accessed through hallways to 5 directly connected stations without surfacing outside. The entire above/underground complex has well over 200 exits.

Kabukichō (Japanese: 歌舞伎町, Kabuki-chō, pronounced [kabɯki̥ tɕoː]) is an entertainment district in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. Kabuki-chō is the location of many host and hostess clubs, love hotels, shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, and is often called the “Sleepless Town” (眠らない街, Nemuranai Machi, pronounced [nemɯɾanai matɕiꜜ]). Shinjuku Golden Gai, famous for its plethora of small bars, is part of Kabuki-cho.
The district’s name comes from late-1940s plans to build a kabuki theater, and although the theater was never built, the name stuck.
The area has many movie theaters, and is located near Shinjuku Station, Seibu Shinjuku Station, and several other major railway and subway stations.

Shinjuku (新宿区, Shinjuku-ku), [ɕŋ[3]dʑ[1]jk] (listen) officially called Shinjuku City, is a special ward in the Tokyo Metropolis in Japan. It is a major commercial and administrative center, housing the northern half of the busiest railway station in the world (Shinjuku Station) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the administration center for the government of Tokyo. As of 2018, the ward has an estimated population of 346,235, and a population density of 18,232 people per km2. The total area is 18.23 km2.[4] Since the end of the Second World War, Shinjuku has been a major secondary center of Tokyo (fukutoshin), rivaling the original city center in Marunouchi and Ginza. The literal translation of “Shinjuku” is “New Inn”. Shinjuku is also referred as the center of Tokyo, not Chiyoda, Tokyo
Shinjuku is also commonly used to refer to the entire area surrounding Shinjuku Station. The southern half of this area and of the station in fact belong to the Yoyogi and Sendagaya districts of the neighboring Shibuya ward.
