Day in the Life of a Japanese Train Conductor

A day in the life of a Japanese Train Conductor. This is the typical day working in Japan for a train railway conductor or Japanese electric railway company. We go inside their workplace to see Japanese work culture as they all work as a team to run the train line together in the small tranquil town of Choshi in Japan. Takaiya works as a train conductor at Choshi Den-tetsu, AKA Choshi Electric Railway, transporting passengers for 100 years now from Choshi station to Tokawa station, a 10 station 6.4km (4 Mile) stretch located on the easternmost tip of Chiba right on the oceanside. The headquarters is here, at Nakanocho station, where a total of 60 workers proudly and safely keep the train line running each and every day. We follow Takaya from his morning routine in Japan all the way through to his work day.

  1. I In Buenos Aires where I live, the metro system has some older trains that look very similar in the interior to the one shown here. Same seats and everything. I think they are Mitsubishi. Makes it easier to imagine myself there on that train in Japan. Great video!

  2. The "Day in the life Series" has always been a favorite of mine and this episode rank way up there. I am a somewhat cynical old man (late 50s) living in today's fast paced world. To see a train line being operated with heart, care and dedication reminded me of the much simpler times of my childhood. Thank you Paolo!

  3. Paolo's "Day in life" videos are so satisfying to watch. Epitome of calmness. Even a train conductor's life is calmer than mine. 😂

  4. I love him because my dear sweet grandpa did the same job and with same passion like him. He reminds me of him ❤

  5. Trains in Japan: absolutely on time and if not the ppl literally (as apology) doing seppuku…Trains in Germany: always unpunctual until the rides are completely canceled, the DB: "oh you really thought you could get to work on time with our trains lmao", it always feels that they don't really take their customers seriously and as a reward the ticket prices are increased every year! so it's very delightful to see that ppl do, with proud and fun, they best for they customers. Thank you for letting us be a part of it!!!

  6. I’m so jealous of Japanese people who got to travel by train and had fun experiences. Sadly there’s no train in my country, so when I came back from my Japanese trip, I miss commuting by trains so much. ❤ I love these videos, please keep up the good work.

  7. not sure, it seems like it could be slightly boring BUT the worklace looks so nice and having a regular routine is something I could probably get used to.
Wouldn't mind working in a place like that but 8 -10 ? 14 hours ? is that even allowed ? I thought they changed rules in Japan so that it will be 8 hours 5 days a week like in most western countries ?
2 Hours brake is kinda long and even though thats the same pretty much everywhere I think a break this long should at least partially be paid as it doesn't make sense going home or actually doing something at that time.

  8. I really enjoyed watching this video. Also i was feeling withTakaiya when he said that he prefers to work at this location, the atmosphere was very nice. Thank you for making the Video and thanks to Takaiya as well for sharing his work with us!

  9. There are a lot of flashing still shots in the opening scene at his home. I need to pause and look around. Maybe increase the length of them? Just a suggestion 😊
