Today’s Japan Walking Tour is Kobe’s Japanese garden “Sorakuen”.
Sorakuen is a Japanese garden built in the residence of Taijiro Kodera in the early 20th century and is now owned by Kobe City and open to the public.
Located about a 10-minute walk from Kobe Motomachi Station, it is a hidden healing spot in the city. Within the 20,000㎡ site, there is a boathouse, an important cultural property, the former Kodera family stables, and the former Hassam residence.
I visited on a weekday evening and found that there were few tourists, so we were able to take our time and enjoy the site at our own pace.
今回のウォーキングツアーは神戸の日本庭園『相楽園』です。
相楽園は20世紀初頭、小寺泰次郎氏の邸宅に建てられた池泉回遊式日本庭園で現在は神戸市所有となり一般公開されています。
神戸元町駅より徒歩10分ほどの位置にあり都会の隠れた癒しスポットです。約20,000㎡の敷地内には重要文化財の船屋形や旧小寺家厩舎、旧ハッサム住宅があります。
平日、夕方に訪れましたが観光客も少なく自分のペースでゆっくり見ることができました。
