京都最大の繁華街・四条河原町から徒歩圏内の四条烏丸で、2019年にリニューアルオープンした「ポケモンセンターキョウト」。施設の概要をふまえ、京都限定グッズや店内の詳細を紹介します。
「ポケモンセンター」とは、現実の世界に存在する、ポケットモンスターに関するキャラクターグッズの専門店です。「ポケセン」とも呼ばれています。ポケモンセンターの店内には、グッズだけでなく、ゲーム機器なども売られています。ポケモンセンターの店舗は日本各地に存在し、東京、札幌市、仙台市、船橋市、横浜市、名古屋市、京都市、大阪市、広島市、福岡市にあります。海外では、アメリカ・ニューヨークの任天堂直営店に一店、シンガポールに一店あります。
店内では、ポケモンセンターキョウトのアイコンとなっている「ホウオウのオブジェ」が目立っていました。上にはピカチュウがのっています。「ホウオウ」は東アジアを代表する霊鳥「鳳凰／ほうおう」をモデルにしていると考えられており、 京都・宇治の世界遺産「平等院鳳凰堂／びょうどういんほうおうどう」の名前にも含まれています。ポケモンセンターキョウトにホウオウのオブジェというのは、京都らしいといえば京都らしい、みどころのひとつといえます。
ポケモンセンターキョウトの限定グッズが、着物姿のピカチュウです。オスとメスがいます（実際に「オス・メス」と表記されている）。店内には、 先ほどのホウオウのオブジェのように、着物のピカチュウのオブジェのメス（舞妓はんピカチュウ）が目立つように展示されています。
「ポケモンセンターキョウト」は、京都最大の歓楽街・四条河原町（しじょうかわらまち）の徒歩圏内にある「四条烏丸／しじょうからすま」に位置します。メインストリートの四条通りぞいの建物「京都経済センター」 の2階にあります。ポケモンセンターキョウトがある四条烏丸は、京都でも絶対に迷えない場所のひとつなので、アクセスは最高といってよい気がします。
