Tamaudun was the first building designated as a national treasure in Okinawa Prefecture, which was designated as a national treasure on December 25, 2018.
In December 2000, Tamaudun was registered as a World Heritage Site as “Gusuku Sites and Related Heritage Sites of the Kingdom of Ryukyu”.
Tamaudun is a sacred tomb where the king of Okinawa, surrounded by banyan trees, about a 3-minute walk from Shuri Castle.
