Momiji Manju | The FAMOUS Japanese Street Food You Must Try! #shorts #japanesefood #hiroshimacity

Momiji Manju is a “must try” when visiting Miyajima in Hiroshima, Japan. This famous Japanese dessert was created in 1907 and they’re a local specialty which were developed on the island itself. Think of them like cousins to taiyaki or dorayaki with that classic red bean filling. But these? They come with a soft, cake-like hug and a cute leaf design that’s hard to resist.

Fast forward to today, and you’ll spot Momiji Manju basically everywhere in Hiroshima. From railway stations to airports, they’ve earned their spot as the go-to souvenir. And their popularity doesn’t stop there. They’ve even rocked the Japanese Kit Kat world with their own flavor. And, if you’re all about variety (like I am), keep an eye out for their evolving shapes and flavored filling.

The coolest part? Many shops serve these treats freshly baked, right there. Imagine getting them piping hot, straight from the oven, soft and springy, ready to pair with your favorite coffee or tea. No wonder there’s a buzz around these stalls, with both locals and travelers forming lines. These little leafy cakes are selling like… well, hotcakes!” 🤭
